I am new to the QC and set it up as my audio interface but, I am beyond stressed about volume issues
Where might I find a Quad Cortex expert that can help me figure out why I need to double the volume of my monitors (compared to my normal music listening level) to hear the guitar through the QC over the sound of my guitar strings in the room?
First start with your I/O, most keep the main volume and input(s) gain at unity (0db), then set your output to just below the red line (clipping). If you are listening to background music via USB, then adjust the USB levels in the I/O menu as well as applicable for your listening levels.
I think w/ incoming audio thru USB, it’s more a question of attenuating it at its source (the computer)- it’s probably a line-level ‘mismatch’ and volumes need to be decreased on the Mac or the software program sending the audio.
This is why lots of us use external monitor mixers; that and having other interfaces in the studio to combine.
