Answer me clearly please

If something is broken in a update like my tuner, is the only way for a possible fix by contacting support or wait til the next update? support didn’t help and still have a crazy tuner like its on crack, shaking everywhere. I would love to go back to a update where it was zero problems. Can someone explain why neural doesn’t have a download site to go back on something when something messes up on a update. This is a massive downfall to me and have to spend more money what I haven’t got

Im not an official NDSP anything. But I will give you a straight customer answer. You say that support didnt help. Meaning they wouldnt work with you or they could not get to the root of your issue via having you try various things like a reset? Usually support will suggest certain things for you to get it back up. It may require a video so they can see the issue. Which can be difficult sending video as it takes up a lot of space in emails and it has to be quick to get it in the mb limit. I understand this can be tedious given file sizes and sending communicating via email and waiting.

But lets say best case scenario happens. And they went through all the different things to try and diagnose the issue being specific to your unit and clearing it. If they find it to be defective they would have you send it in for repair if under warranty. If they find that after seeing the tuner and other users report issues it will usually wait as a bug fix on the next update. Other users will report an issue and they can collect data from the affected units identify what went wrong and correct it.

Does this mean it ALWAYS gets fixed on the next update? No. Do I think they wan to leave unfixed things on the table. No. Now if they find that no one else is reporting a tuner issue it may come down to them not deeming it a bug and feeling that based on what they see with their tuners and maybe not having enough information from you to show that it is truly malfunctioning it may be deemed as normal behavior. In that case there would be no issue to fix.

But I will say the tuner for me was always very sensitive. Like If i put a headstock tuner on my guitar it picks up the fundamental so easily and doesn’t oscillate side to side erratically. This I found to be better on lower output guitars and much worse on anything with high output pickups and expecially extended range guitars.

My way of dealing with it was in my case putting it in split coil mode for the bridge pickup of my seven so that it the tuner would get a good enough signal to trigger the tuner but not so hot as these are some very hot passives. Using the bridge pickup also prevented the tuner from picking up some of the overtones that seemed to confuse the tuner. And I also had to tune while muting other strings. Because if any of the other strings start to have sympathy vibration where another string just starts to ring out because the guitar resonates in a way the triggers it can also confuse the tuner. I never tried this but you might be able to try one of those string mutes that semi mute open strings for people doing tapping. This might make it possible for you not to have to manually mute strings and be able to tune to the fundamental note without disturbance from the other strings.

As for updates. Unfortunately no. There is no way to go back to a previous firmware. Some like to wait to see if there are any major bug to try and avoid certain issues. This strategy has limited value as some people are affected by some things and some people are not. There is right now that I know of certain bugs that are known issues from the latest update. As for a timeline one the next one and what will be addressed this is always at the discretion of the company. And usually the most information will be on the website for quad cortex development updates.

Reverting back to previous firmwares I think is not something they like doing because it erases the other fixes that they took care of that may take priority. Especially if it effects something more critical. Now that this is all just my opinion based on my experiences. And im just throwing out ideas of why some companies dont have the ability to revert to previous firmware. I like to believe its for a good reason. I would like to believe that if there wasnt a good reason, even if that reason doesnt want to be made public? I just feel if there wasnt a valid reason for not making it available they would allow it to happen. It may be just limited server information. All updates are done via wifi so they would have to have every previous Cor os in available. And who knows if going back may or may not risk the unit of having more errors.

The tuner for me was always the way you described. I was not a very early adopter. I didnt have to wait long for 3.0.0. maybe a month or two at best. But I just accepted it as how it was. I do hope you are able to find a work around. I know a tuner is essential. And a good reliable tuner for live use even more so. I do hope it can get sorted for you. Maybe try support again. Its a slow process. Especially if you need it to work now and you have to wait. I get that feeling. But I would say if your unit didnt freeze and become completely unusable you are doing better than a couple. Just saying. It sucks. And I feel you on it. But it could be much worse. Im a glass half empty guy. Im very cynical. So for me to try and tell you to try and stay positive is ironic. But I had worse issues that had me have to be without it for a month. Luckily I didnt NEED it. If your tuner is the only thing you are displeased with and all other things are firing on all cylinders I gotta be a glass half full guy on your behalf.
