*note- this request described below, is impossible hardware-wise. Revised request, If Neural created a USB hub/dock that allowed more I/O options (interchangeable in’s/out’s).
Another option would be to add the “capture” jack (1/4”) to the i/o.
As it stands, the QC (Analog) has 4 inputs (xlr 1/2, 1/4” RET 1/2) and 6 outputs (xlr out 1/2, 1/4” out 3/4, and 1/4” Send 1/2). I’m making the request to personalize that by making the RET/Sends interchangeable (in to out, out to in, or any combination) in the Settings → Device Options.
There theoretically could be a number of reasons to do this (why it would be cool).
Increasing inputs = Having 4 separate instruments (2 stereo ins, 2 ts instruments)
Increasing outputs = Having a Neural expo where Rabea is plugged into 4 separate stereo rigs (4 L & 4 R)
Send and return jacks have come up elsewhere in the forum. Someone (sorry, I forget who) confirmed with NDSP that the Return jacks have 1 ADC each, and the Send jacks have 1 DAC each. So having that many stereo ins/outs is not possible.
Anyway, I do think increased flexibility with I/O is a good idea overall.
Re : “(sorry, I forget who)” or you’re being nice (appreciate)… that was me.
I guess my short-sightedness was regarding the email response from neural about stereo trs. When they said 1 adc per return, I just assumed that it referred to mono vs stereo (1 adc/dac vs 2). Short of a hardware update (qc v2). This request is impossible.
How about a neural designed USB hub/dock (like those pesky dongles apple seems to make me buy)? That could allow all sorts of i/o routing. I’m sure theres plenty of customers that would shell out 2-400 for a few more in/outs.
