I typically use two guitars on gigs, a Strat and Les Paul. I would like to be able to plug the Strat with its single coils into QC Input 1, and the Les Paul with its double coils into Input 2. Then I would like to configure the input in path 1 to be Input 1 + Input 2 so that both guitars go through the same signal path. The eliminates the need to use up a whole path just to combine the inputs.
Another advantage of this is that I can adjust the input 1 & 2 levels to more closely balance the two guitars into the the rest of the signal chain, and don’t need to use a gain block to do this.
One thing that would really come in handy for me and I suspect others: I usually have my main guitar and a backup for shows.
To keep them always connected I use a switcher and If I need to grab the backup guitar I just change the active input on the switcher.
I use a dry-wet configuration on my main preset and If I connect Main Guitar to Input 1, backup guitar to Input 2 and choose, on Input Block, “Input 1/2”, each guitar just goes into the panned channel on the grid. And I understand this as this is considered “Stereo Input”.
What I would like is that make it configurable - something like “Input 1/2 (Mono)” or “Input 2 = Input 1”, so I have both guitars connected, use the same preset and avoid an additional guitar switcher.
My workaround (to avoid the switcher) was to duplicate the presets and choose Input 2 on the copy. If I need to grab the backup, I change the preset but it would be nice if I just can use the same preset.
I use to use a switcher with 2 inputs and one output. The switch would then select one guitar or the other and only use one input on QC. But I’ve switched to Nux wireless and don’t bother with the switcher anymore. It’s easy to mute the Nux transmitter, unplug it, switch guitars, plug it back in, and unmute.
I believe this is now possible. I just got my QC a week ago and I am able to use 1 guitar on input 1 and another guitar on input 2. Then select input 1/2 on the main input and can share the same path going to the main output.
Even better would be to let the input be switchable within a preset. So for instance in stomp mode it would be possible to have one switch toggle between inputs.
I currently use a Line6 G75 wireless setup with 2 transmitters, so I toggle between guitars from the receiver itself (and that is a massive upside of this particular -now discontinued- line), but I’d like to find a solution that doesn’t tied me to that particular wireless setup.
Has anyone been able to confirm if this issue has been resolved? I’m in the process of purchasing a Quad Cortex and planning my new setup. I’d like to know if I should invest in an external A/B input switcher to switch between guitars on the QC without having to unplug cables
I don’t think so. If you select Input 1/2, guitar 1 would go to Left Path and guitar 2 to Right Path. So if you have stereo effects, you only hear the correspondent side.
It should be allowed another option like SUM Input1/2 or something similar.
What if you all used a block up front that didn’t really change your sound too much but collapsed it to mono. Maybe a mono compressor with values set to barely change tone if at all? Or maybe the gain block with gain set to zero would collapse to mono???
And if you want a stereo delay? You would only hear the L repeat for guitar 1 and the R repeat for guitar 2, unless you create two parallel paths (one for input 1 and other for input 2) and repeat the blocks.
This request is to allow that same path/blocks work the same way for guitars connected on input 1 and 2: a SUM Input 1/2.
Why not use the Transparent Blend block to insert Input 2 to your signal path? Then you can switch inputs with its blend.
This also saves an entire lane that would’ve been used for the second input
