I’ve seen the discussion about stock amps for edge-of-breakup tones here: Which stock amp in the QC has best edge of breakup tones?
I’m curious about stock pedals that can achieve a similar feel.
I’m running the Captain 50 (Morgan) amp in a clean setting and looking for a pedal that adds just the right amount of grit.
I really love Mark Lettieri’s edge-of-breakup tone, especially in this video YouTube. I’d love to get something similar as the J.Rockett The Melody Overdrive with QC’s stock pedals.
Which stock pedals in the QC have worked best for you in this context? Would love to hear your favorites!
I’m a fan of the Brit Blues (Marshall blues breaker)

I’ve recently started using less overdrive pedals. Instead I put an eq in front of it and boost the signal. You can boost certain freqencies to your own taste.
When I do use pedals, my favorites are Exotic and Vemural. And the Exotic Boost.

I like the Mythical drive for that.

Second this. K style pedals make a great boost in front of a dirty amp (or distortion pedal)

It really depends on your personal taste/ear and what you want your “grit” to sound like, and then how each pedal reacts in front of the Morgan.
Some good suggestions here (BB, K-type), but really any of the stock pedals can do what you’re asking.
Some other “classic flavors” of OD would be your TS, ODR, Rat (in a low gain position), 250, Jan Ray, even a muff.
One of the great things about owning a QC is that it’s really really really easy to “sample” amazing pedals amps etc. not just from a logistics standpoint (drag and drop) but from a cost perspective too.
TL/DR: just go try some!

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies! For now I’m actually using the Obsessive Drive / Fulltone OCD, but I’ll probably switch a bit between different options.
One follow-up question: Does anyone have experience on how accurately those overdrives are recreating the real ones, also in combination with a real amp? Is the dynamic behavior similar? I haven’t played a real amp in quite some time, and would be curious how the setups compare.
