Where is the QC at right now?

Do you think it’s possible that QC developers are used for the updates of the Darkglass Anagram ?

It seems to have a lot of updates and i was wondering if it could be the case, the QC updates were slow downed when the Nano came and almost inexistant since the anagram came out.

It sure feels that the QC was left behind by the developers (from the non-insiders people.) I really can’t understand that move especially with new gear coming from the competition.

Darkglass was sold to KORG right? So I imagine there’s zero crossover between the companies?

But, as a bassist, the speed of Anagram updates is very tempting, they’re listening to requests and updating them as and when each single thing or small group of things are ready to go.

The QC is still winning for me, the signal routing alone is better - but it’s hard not to see how rapidly the anagram is being updated and feel that temptation to at least try it out.

Good luck! Thanks for all your contributions to the forum.

I’d say wait before purchasing. The QC is a great device, but I feel like it’s having a bit of an identity crisis right now. I can’t tell if it’s trying to be suited for a bedroom players who want plug-ins on a device they can fit in a backpack, or if it’s trying to be a device for users to use live.

Between the lack of updates (compared to their competitors) the investment required to get it on a pedalboard, and the content of the updates (strong focus on plugins, which is essentially a paid update)

I love working with the quad, I feel like its got the best UI of all the modelers, and it sounds good in some contexts, like direct to FOH or recording, but at this point they all sound great like that.

So unless they’re specifically something that you miss about the quad from when you had it last, I wouldn’t pick one up now. They’ve only added a handful of features/fx and a lot of plug-ins.

Hoping neural hits their stride soon and starts consistently investing into the quad in non-plug-in PCOM ways. That was promised that launch, and has taken literal years to roll out. It’s 2025, time to focus on features that aren’t plug-ins. Not one digital modeling, competitor releases hundred dollar paid updates to their devices.

Yes, with the lack of midi option, the hybrid mode that almost all of the users wants to be more like the competition (see the “like command center request) and also maybe a piece of gear not as trusty as a Kemper or Axe Fx for live use it looks like more bedroom friendly but if you are a plugin user, it is maybe not essential to own a QC.

hard to tell because of the lack of communication directly from the company but at this point i’d say the unit is at least halfway through it’s life cycle.

It’s good to talk about ways the QC can improve. I know Line 6 people look at posts online about the Helix and used some of that for ways to improve for the Stadium.

Neural claims to be an innovative company (which they are) so why would it be bad to have discussions about why they should improve midi, etc? These companies need feedback from the people actually using the units.

If you watch the interview their CEO did with Rick Beato, you’d see how they also get feedback from their artists when they’re designing plugins for them, or see how people use their products. They’re artists making products for other artists, but they can’t just come up with everything on their own when they’re so focused on all the specific elements like footswitch design, coding, etc.

Also, the expected thing now with modelers and many digital products is that everyone expects it to be improved. All these companies (even video game companies) will have day one updates and other constant updates to these intricate products because it isn’t the norm to have a final version on release.

On the topic of transpose, there may be transposes from the plugins if I’m not mistaken. Either way, as long as it’s the first in the chain like any other pitch pedal, it tracks just fine but can be tricked by thick clustered chords

Coming from Kemper and Helix, I bought a QC because I wanted something fully-feature, but more portable.

Transpose is essential for me live, as I can often only take 2 guitars. The latency actually feels lower (although I haven’t measured) and with the lack of polyphonic pitch , I’m surprised at the quality.

The other thing I didn’t see listed was intelligent pitch shifting. However, the Minivoice is more than up to the task, if you keep the harmony volume at a reasonable level.

The interface and Cortex Control are a joy to use and far from dreading programming up a new device, I found it inspiring. It feels like a device built by guitarists that suits me perfectly.

My only regret is that I didn’t get one earlier.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s a big step up and V2 is really a step up! For me V2 and the new spring engine are a massive upgrade.

The last thing besides better midi/footswitchcontrol is an updated Looper. Let me load and save audiofiles to and from it. If that could be achieved, I’m 100 % happy with the QC.

Chiming in on the Transpose on the QC. I can’t wrap my brain around how it’s not polyphonic. I know they say it’s not. But it just performs so well for a monophonic device. You can get errors when tuning low and using clean guitar sounds but usually down tuning a bunch is (for me) and distorted or overdriven part and it handles that great.

I have an Eventide H90 that has polyphonic pitch algorithms and none of them feel as natural as transpose in the QC.

Same here. I think the common complaint that “transpose is not polyphonic" is quite misleading. In my terms, the synth is monophonic. But transpose works well with single notes, powerchords, simple chords.

Yes sure, there are artifacts sometimes. But it’s totally usable for my purposes. Which is tuning down 1, 2 or 3 half-steps.

V2 is so good to the point I am copying in my favorite tonex V2 captures for use in the QC and there are no artifacts! Worth picking up if you can get around the power supply hurdle.
