Hey guys, I’ve programmed a set out in Reaper and automated all the gaps to have a much tighter noise gate setting or to be muted using expression pedal 2 (I’ve tried doing this on a volume block and a noise gate block with the same results).
The automation works exactly as intended when I have no scene changes happening (the track muted in the DAW) but as soon as I add my scene changes back in, and there’s a scene change anywhere near some volume automation (ie there’s a bit of silence before a heavy part. Change to rhythm tone, volume expression up), theres a ~100ms gap of silence.
I’ve also tested it by making both scenes identical, the switch still causes the gap of silence with no parameters changing between the scenes.
Has anyone got this to work seamlessly? Or is this just an unfortunate bug and I’m gonna have to shift certain patch changes much earlier to account for this?
Many thanks
If I’m only doing scene changes (minus the volume automation) OR only doing volume automation (minus the scene changes) I don’t get any gaps and it all works as expected, so I don’t think its quite the same problem as the other threads. It’s only when I combine the two that I get the weird results, and it’s only when they’re really close together on the timeline.
It’s as if the scene change makes the QC forget that it has to do volume automation at the same time and it remembers 100ms later. A similar kind of thing happens with scenes if I press play from a random place (too close to a scene change) the QC kind of glitches about trying to remember what scene its supposed to be on and then sorts itself out.
I can see if I can replicate the behaviour trying to change scenes whilst doing a volume swell with the expression pedal instead of the DAW.
