Hello All,
I just got my unit from repair. I am currently experiencing sudden volume drops in the middle of a session. It comes back after a minute or so and then same thing happens again. I have timed it to see whether it happens in an interval but no luck. No extra hardware or software installed. Any idea?
Best,
Is the volume knob at 100?
No it is at 50%.
With some units, volume wheel just doesn’t stay at the desired level and you can actually see it on the screen going crazy 51-52-58-7-87-56 etc… I thought it might be related to that. When it’s at 100, there seems to be no issue.
I see. This issue is very new. I haven’t seen it brought up anywhere. Thanks anyway. Swear a god, I will get rid of this QC asap.
It’s been brought up a lot here in fact, search for Unity Volume to get the underlying concept.
the concept of sudden volume drops?
nah … unity volume and why the vol wheel is stable at 100
hmmm thanks…I’ve just checked it… hence this is not new at all.
Yeah, i’ve got this exact issue that i needed to inform the support long ago (i was going to do it this week actually, hope it’s not too late).
It’s kind of annoying and probably will be concerning when it will be time to going live.
I informed them yesterday. Let’s see what they got to say.
I had this happen today during rehearsal. Lasted about ten minutes and could not figure out what was going on.
I’m on the most recent update
I think more people should bring this up to QC support. I don’t want to speculate but it might be the latest update.
I must say i’ve gor this from the begining but maybe more often since the update. (not sure)
The volume going crazy time tio time and impossible to set to zero, when i turn the volume button all left, the volume going up to 87%84%85% etc…
My issue wasn’t a change shown by the volume percentage indicator, it was just sudden drop that didn’t return to normal for about ten minutes
insufficient power can result in unpredictable behavior, the main symptom usually being volume level irregularities.
Is anyone having these issues in this thread using a non-factory PSU? Even the CIOKS can underpower the QC if any of the mini-switches are accidentally set incorrectly (or bumped)
I have tried it with two other PS. There is one last resort, perhaps cause of the problem. Between QC and studio monitor I have the following; Seymour Duncan Power Stage and Apollo Twin X sound card. Perhaps there is something wrong with the lineup. Currently it is;
QC => Seymour D. => Apollo Twin => Studio Monitor…
do you detect the volume drops through the QC headphone signal? If not, maybe it is the outboard gear.
I responded to you in a separate thread, but this signal chain is potentially dangerous. Speaker output of the Powerstage should only go into an unpowered monitor.
