Using drive pedal captures in post slot?

Brand new to the platform. Thanks for having me!

If i get a pedal capture either from the cloud or I create my own am I correct in my understanding that I cannot use that pedal capture in the PRE FX slot? Am I limited to what the NC pedals are for that slot? The #1 download in the cloud (I think) is a Klon pedal but it doesn’t seem useful if I can’t put an amp after it.

If that’s the case how in the world do people use self-made or cloud-downloaded captures? Do they simply forego an amp for the capture?

Thanks.

Yea basically what people do. Turns the nano into an overdrive/effects pedal. But if you wanna use it with an amp that you own, you can capture it with the pedal. Only issue is it’s not gonna be as adjustable.

You could also just use it before your nano cortex. That also works

As an overdrive? Better off with a Tonex One and one of the new MIDI controllers for that.. A lot cheaper and less pedalboard real estate.

Some would say you would sacrifice the capture tones with Tonex compared to QC/Nano. I have both and Tonex but definitely find much more enjoyable captures with the NDSP ecosystem YMMV

Thanks for all the replies.

@WickedRican yeah I guess I had a different idea of where you could put the captures. I figured before buying you could capture your drive pedal and put it in a drive slot for example.

It’s no big deal ultimately. My goal is to get rid of my pedals and the NC is the first step. QC may be the ultimate step one day!

Could always have the cheapest version of the tonex in front of the nano cortex for this purpose. Cortex for amps, tonex for pedal captures

If you’re capturing your pedals, capturing it with your amp is an option. It is not the best option but it still works. I have a Vox AC10C1 and an Hudson Broadcast as well as Art Effects Soothsayer, I use my captures like, AC10 alone, AC10 + Hudson Drive, AC10 + SoothSayer. Those combinations take many presets and I know it is limiting this way. However, you have only 4 presets and you won’t be able to individually turn your pedals on or off without a MIDI controller anyway. You still have to set your preset with pedal on and another preset with pedal off. So, why not capture all of them together.
Then again, if you have a MIDI controller like a MC6 Pro, then you have a lot more presets to access to. So you could either get a MIDI controller like MC6 Pro or use only a few presets. And 4 is plenty for me. If I needed more, than I could get a MIDI controller like MC6 Pro or there are a lot cheaper ones.
