Just curious if anyone else had issues setting up an expression pedal in the Nano Cortex
I also own the Quad Cortex as well as other modelers so I am no stranger to setting up expression pedals.
When setting up mine in the Nano it would not recognize the full sweep of the pedal. I tried exp pedals from Dunlop, Ampero, boss and Mission (ndsp model). It varied from a sweep in the middle of about 10% and the next attempt at setting it, it would be at 94%. I had to keep plugging the trs cable in and out of the pedal in an attempt to get it to work. I eventually got it to function properly with a 100% sweep and it would work on all of the different pedals without having to do any further calibration.
My concern is that if I ever need / want to reset the device I may not get it to function again without having to repeat the same frustrating frustrating process which took about 2 hours.
I’m curious if anybody else has had a similar experience or if maybe I just have a faulty unit.
I had successfully used an Roland EV-5 can was easily calibrated. I tried out a newer Boss EV-1WL which has TRS midi, BT, and USB. It reacted similar to your description, and I am having trouble getting the vendor to understand the issue. I also purchased a Boss EV-30 and it didn’t have a full range on calibration, but worked with the Nano. Strange stuff indeed. Didn’t you get any further in your own setup?
Unfortunately I have not found a permanent fix. Once I calibrated it I’ve not had to do a reset so no need to recalibrate my pedal. It continues to work perfectly.
When I initially was going through the frustrating process of setting it up I found it seemed to get stuck within certain parameters, no matter which exp pedal I tried( except for the Boss).
Much like yourself, I found that the Boss pedal would always work perfectly. What I ended up doing was using it as a reset simply by inserting and removing its trs cable 2-3 times. I would then try to calibrate my preferred pedal and it calibrated perfectly. As I said earlier by using the Boss pedal as a reset seemed to work. Not an ideal work around but it got things set up.
I am using a Hotone Ampero Press. It’s well built, fits perfectly on a small board, and works great.
Thanks for the update.
