So I’ve just got a Hotone Ampero II Press. 2 outputs. Toe switch included.
It does what it’s supposed to do, but I find it was better when I used an Exp pedal without Toe Switch. I tell you why:
With an Exp pedal without Toe Switch I can have different blocks that are controlled with the Exp pedal in different scenes. Let’s say, Wah, Volume, Whammy, Delay repeats… Whatever. When I switch to a scene I can control that block with the Exp Pedal.
But if I use the Toe Switch I only can have the two same options for all the scenes.
I expected to have, for example, scene 1 with wah/Volume, scene 2 with Whammy/wah, scene 3 with Whammy/distortion…
So, as I said earlier, I can’t see the point of the Toe Switch.
I’m probably missing something. Can you enlighten me?
the only real advantage I can think of (I use one) is that you can toggle between 2 fx without having to move off the pedal. A little less tap-dancing. That’s pretty much it.
You could also use the XP2 switch for midi assignments, like to call up Gig View, tuner, or switch scenes, etc
the main drawback of course is you have to go all the way thru the maximum setting of the XP1 pedal throw to get to the switch XP2 function. Some users don’t find that acceptable. But if you can work with that, it opens some interesting possibilities. Otherwise, a separate XP switch might be more versatile for XP2. I’ve tried it both ways.
edit: also, I’m using a midi jumper cable from the QC midi in to the QC midi out. I’ve never tried the XP midi functions without that, not sure if it matters. I think it might.
