I’m working on a page to compare Plugins, especially noting any exclusive components and tonal/genre profile. Might help narrow down some choices.
feel free to edit/add info/update:
this has been addressed many times. They are not ‘heading towards DLC.’ They will continue to provide free updates and content and devices for the QC.
Practically all the devices in the plugins are ALREADY on the QC, some of the Archetypes may feature ‘tweaked’ versions of their actual gear but you’re not missing out on that much w/out the PlugIns.
Also, note that in CorOS they are providing FREE devices that mirror the new functionalities of Plugins- Transpose, Doubler, Blend, etc. These are for everyone, for free- not locked behind a paywall.
They have been working on PCOM for years- because they promised it from the start. It’s not a money-grab, it’s fulfilling the features they advertised from the beginning. Hopefully once PCOM is up and running they can devote more time to the free additions and improvements.
Is it felt that the plugins will sound better than the native amps and effects on the QC?
I’ve been mulling this over, thank you!
Not really. Maybe some slightly different flavors with the Archetype artist devices, but overall you can get by just fine without them
I’m pretty sure I’m going with Asato. It has some really different amp sounds than my other plugins.
Some people say they do. In my experience the QC sounds better/clearer (and feels A LOT better). But i think it depends on the preset.
We’ve been updating this chart; if you have any suggestions please let me know
thanks for that, very usefull !
Hey Xush, thanks for putting this together. I think it will be a great resource for those looking to choose a plugin, even more-so as the list of QC compatable plugins grows. Nice work!
thanks! I hope some find it useful. Still open to suggestions there, but probably need to keep it as brief/compact as possible?
Also added a PCOM schedule today: PCOM Schedule - Quad Cortex Wiki
Thank you so much for this great job! I’m still wondering which one to choose, as I already own Gojira I was looking for something with a different flavor. Plini X seems cool and it’s ready to be enjoyed on QC but Rabea’s synth is insane. Soldano, Nolly… they all seem great!
That Rabea Overlord Synth looks like a lot of fun and brings something different to the table. Thank you Xush for this comprehensive comparison worksheet!
Why did you print darkglass ultra in bold?
The 2 Bass plugins are in bold (well, supposed to be anyway)
My two cents is that the synth will be available for everyone when the synth block will be released or maybe it will be some synth presets that you have to own the rabea to have those sounds but i don’t think…
I really don’t think that the synth block will be available only for rabea’s owners.
We can clearly see with that some plugins will bring a lot of new things (amp, cabs, effects) to your QC and some not so much.
Also some have new official emulated effects that can be cool like in the fortins suite or the granophyre.
Sorry for my out-of-the-loop status but what does “P&W” stand for?
Probably - Praise & Worship. Church guitar guy stuff
Prayer & Worship (according to Google heh). Btw great spreadsheet fellas!!! I did the same comparison to pick my free plugin. I own Nolly already and it comes with a huge bang for the buck. I tried a bunch and landed on Plini. The cleans and fx are pretty outstanding, which is something I’m always looking for new flavors of, and the high gain is pretty sweet. Covers my non-metal tones. Plus I REALLY wanted to try out plugins on the QC. It’s pretty nuts - I played the plugin on my desktop then minutes later I had the plugin through my QC going through a power amp and into my cab. Remarkable. I love that the device still keeps giving after a few years in a MAJOR way!
Of course! Thanks for jogging my brain.
