Stereo Guitar Recording and Mixing: Tips and Techniques

My block chain always ends with stereo FXs, such as delay and reverbs, so when I’m recording, I go out in stereo into my Focusrite inputs 1 and 2, and then record them into a stereo track in Cubase.
My questions are:

1 - How do you guys approach mixing those stereo tracks?
2 - Should I leave them dead center, and let the stereo FX do the stereo imaging work, or should I pan them to enhance the spatiality? (is stereo actually hard L hard R by default?)

My band is pretty FX-heavy so I want to ensure I’m recording guitars correctly so my mixes sound good.

Thanks for your help!

I would try recording your guitars both ways, and see how each one sounds in the context of your mix. Each song is different, so experiment and play around. Or record dry guitars and play with fx in the mixing phase. I mix for clients so if you would like me to mix your band’s work, let me know! I’d be happy to help!
