Stand alone plug in

I purchased the petrucci plugin but I don’t use a daw and am just waiting for it to be integrated into th qc but I saw a message saying it could be used as a stand alone but I have no idea how to do this, any advice?

You need an audio interface in order to run standalone mode. You can use your QC as an interface by connecting with USB to your computer.

BUT,

That does not mean that the Petrucci plug-in runs on your QC the same way that the other PCOM-ready plug-ins do.

I haven’t tried the QC for operating standalone mode yet. But I imagine you would need to open up an empty preset, set the output to USB 3 or 4, and set the plug-in’s input to read from the corresponding USB audio line. I can double-check when I’m at my Mac computer again.

also, you should be able to use any preset unmodified- the USB will automatically route your DI In/Out(USB) 1 to Channel 1 of your audio input to the Standalone plugin app. It will probably be a lower level than you’re used to so you’ll want to boost it a bit

@xush knows better than me. Go with what he said.

Yep came here to say what @xush did. You can record your signal DI with the QC with USB and then use your plug-in in your DAW. I actually really like that workflow, because then I have an unaltered DI signal that I can do anything with in post.

I ran a couple of tests with some Standalones (Rabea X and Abasi) just to make sure, since my setup is a little convoluted. I only ever use an aggregate device on a Mac, with several interfaces and monitoring setups so I wanted to see if there was any difference.

You may have to go to the Settings menu of the Plugin and assign the Input and Output audio devices if the default isn’t passing signal. Depending on how you’re monitoring, you might need to adjust inputs or outputs so they correspond to what you’re using. Otherwise, if it’s a simple setup with one interface (esp the QC) the defaults should work. Let us know if they don’t and we’ll figure it out. Just need to know what computer platform you’re on and how you’re monitoring. (If you’re getting latency, you’ll need to lower the Audio Buffer Size in that same menu)
