Is there a setting for the QC to go into sleep mode after an x amount of time being idle ?

No, there isn’t but it’s a good idea.

It is a good idea.
I came home from work one day to find my QC getting pretty toasty under its cover, because we’d had a power outage in the day and it had powered itself on when the power came back.
Yes, a good idea to unplug the unit when you’re done. In fact, I never power off from the unit, I just pull the power cord or flip the switch on the power strip it’s plugged into.
