For now, proper setlists with drag and drop songs on the QC would be great for me. I’ve been waiting for that since the beginning of the QC journey. And then we’ll see.
While we wait patiently for proper ‘pointer’ setlist functionality to be implemented, has anybody had any success with using a setlist manager app on their phone/tablet and connecting it to the QC via USB/midi to call up presets via program change messages?
Yes. It works fine with SongbookPro and WIDI Master Dongles. I’m using an Android Tablet and can also select each preset in different folders.
I’m currently waiting in the queue for QC. Can anyone explain how the system for obtaining setlists works right now? Is this option available?
Thanks in advance!
Yes. I have used both Bandhelper and Camelot on an iPad with the QC over usb connection. Works very well.
“Setlists” would more appropriately be called ‘Preset Folders’ on the QC presently. They are merely subfolders that contain whatever presets you move there. Reorganizing within them can be frustrating, there’s no ‘insert between’ option for moving presets; when you drag and drop them they can only overwrite or swap places with whatever’s in the slot you’re moving it to. It’s a more complicated juggling act than it should be; don’t expect to whip a setlist together or edit one quickly before a show. It takes a little work
I had a play with SongbookPro last night. Thanks for the suggestion beschmitt! It works well - mostly. Having a single folder of presets that the app references is exactly what I wanted. If QC had setlist creation and editing tools like that, it would be just amazing! Please Neural this is an essential feature for gigging musicians.
One observation about SongBookPro: It seems to lose connection to the QC periodically and the only way to get reconnected is to physically pull the usb out of the phone and reinsert. It doesn’t seem stable enough to use for a gig.
Spot on. This is a good description of the existing capability.
I’m excited this Function request / suggestion is getting a lot of traction. Presumably from gigging musicians who live the challenges of the current set up.
How do we get Neural to pay attention to this?
Bert
Write a mail to support@neuraldsp.com to make them (more) aware.
Yes I use Forscore on my ipad and it works perfectly.
So while I still think NDSP should implement proper setlists on the QC, I personally would not use them.
Someone just needs to develop a modeler that has sound and ease of use as the Quad combined with the smart options and effects of Fractal. Ladies and gentlemen!
THE FRACTAL CORTEX
First: I love the QC, its sound, its UI, the hardware. It’s really well thought through. And everybody knows it! ![]()
But I can’t believe organizing real set lists (not presets) isn’t possible on QC ![]()
Come on you lovely human beings at Neural… Give us proper setlist management please ![]()
Cheers!
I must add to the discussion that setlist on Headrush Pedalboard was much more efficient and easier than with the QC.
I sold my Headrush and opted for the QC because of the size, power and …because😅
But this morning i did a setlist and i must say that paste/copy , or Copy/ swap is realy not easy to use.
Neural Engeniers please could you let use simply swap the preset in a list with finger slide…on with the mouse in cortex control.
you can do this. In ‘Bank’ view, Drag and drop the preset with your finger. Drop it on top of another preset and it’ll give the option to overwrite or swap.
What we badly need is an ‘insert’ option where it’ll drop the preset BETWEEN two existing ones
Yes, as far as I know, the big Headrush is the only Multi FX with a usable setlist function. But haedrush has already ruined this again with the smaller devices by only installing half of the feature there, although it would have been much more urgent there due to the smaller number of buttons. I just can’t get my head around the fact that virtually no manufacturer of Multi-FX is prepared to move away from the antiquated 1980th bank concept and treat the presets like a normal file system with folders, subfolders and shortcuts, as has been the case for 30 years in the Windows and Mac world. It would then be so easy to create a main folder with all the presets and additional folders for the setlists and songs. In the song folders, the links to the presets in the correct order as they are used in the song. And you could get through a 3-hour gig with just one button and not have to think for a second. It would even be easy for the device to load the next preset in advance so that you wouldn’t have to switch between presets.
But no, integrating the 100th delay effect and plug-in ABC is of course much more important. Sigh
Nice to see, that Line 6 addresses this topic with the new Showcase feature. Maybe a reason for NDSP to put the Setlist/Song/Songpart feature finally on the roadmap? With 125 votes I think there are a lot of people who would be very glad to get it.
Exactly. Insert (or rather: Move) should be the one and only option by default; we don’t need swap and overwrite. Deleting a preset is just as easy.
It would be really great to have a setlist feature similar to the RJM Mastermind Series. I used a PBC/6X with an analog pedal board prior switching to QC and the set list functionality within their software is great! Set up a patch, and then just assign that patch to a preset and done.
yes please, I direly need that, I am in 2 bands with overlapping songs, tweaking one should change the “mother preset” !!! also the 1 hour festival setlist has presets, so now they exist 3 times, because that was the last gig and has the latest tweaks :-/
