Quad Cortex Set Lists for Gigging

I think it’s unbelievable that this hasn’t been implemented yet. It’s a nightmare to have different setlists for different gigs and having to copy/paste presets all the time - then if you adjust something you have to replicate the changes in the same patch that is copied in another place.

Also rearranging patches (which is common between gigs) is tedious because as already mentioned in this thread, there isn’t a simple insert between 2 presets option.

I voted for this feature request and will continue to do so. However, I am using an iPad on stage anyhow and I now manage the setlists from there via wireless midi.

Being in a band where we often adapt the setlists on the fly, this was by far the best solution.

Not saying it’s a solution for everybody, but just wanted to mention it.

Cool Andy, what are you using for the iPad/wireless midi?

I use ForScore to manage my songs (but there’s many other options) and I connect via a CME WIDI Master.

So when I select a leadsheet, it automatically loads the preset and scene on the QC. Only thing I still have to do manually is switch scenes during the song for solos etc., since we don’t use click tracks. Otherwise I think this could be automated as well.

Do you know if ForScore allows you to divide a song into sections and then transmit MIDI signals when a section is reached? If so, you could use it to control your scenes. I do it exactly like that, but with GigPerformer and a Windows handheld. It really makes life on stage easier and you can concentrate on playing and performing without having to think about which sound to press next. It’s a real bonus, especially if you have a larger portfolio.

GigPerformer is nice, but I would actually prefer an iPad solution. Using Windows on stage is always a bit risky.

I’m not sure but I think this would be very difficult with Forscore. There is an automatic page turning function that you maybe could tweak somehow to get switching during a song, but I’m not even sure this would work.

I think to switch scenes by ipad you would need something like Camelot Pro or other apps.

For me it’s not an option anyhow because we do not have IEM or click tracks.

in ForScore You would have to split your song-pdf into different parts-pdfs.

Just returning to this thread again to beg the developers to PLEASE implement the OP’s suggestion. It’s driving me nuts to copy/paste presets for every gig. Then worrying about duplicate presets having the most up to date edits. Workflow is frustrating in its current state. There’s a whole lotta votes for this feature request! Thanks.

How about even a comment, your thoughts, a plan? Come on team!

NDSP usually doesn’t respond to these threads. They obviously see them and implement requested features based on their (internal) roadmap and number of votes. As always, any new features will be announced within NDSP’s social media forums and on their website under news.

One of the reasons I don’t organize my setlist with the QC. Have you ever thought about managing your setup with an external app via iPad? I use OnSong for this. It works great and also has other advantages, such as displaying lyrics and making it easier to address other devices that need to be switched via MIDI. And you only have to press the same button if you set it up accordingly. No more tap dancing and wondering what to press next . I fear that it will be a long time before NDSP addresses this issue.

I agree with the feature request, but in the meantime I do the same as @in5y372, I use my iPad to switch presets and arrange my setlists. It’s much faster anyhow.

I create my setlists in Setlistmaker on my ipad, wireless/bluetooth midi to the QC (Yamaha BT01)

Just push the title the ipad and …. there you go.

Works flawless.
