I wanted even better sound and ease of setup, but I didn’t find that in the quad cortex.
So for me, coming from Fractal I can say that in December 2021 version 2.0 for FM9 was released, since then they have gone from that to version 11 so yes a lot! and keep in mind each revision always had a beta or two, sometimes three for each prod version.
I had the Fractal, the Helix, Tonex (still have it) and few Kempers. Loved the Kemper tones the best but the QC has been the only one that I can quickly dial in a tone and just get to playing instead of tweaking . The only other unit I have thought about getting lately has been the mini (dont need it but I want it).
And I want to sell the quad cortex and forget about this mistake.
No need to announce your departure
I’m not leaving yet, but I’m thinking about it. There are just so many unfinished business, the new firmware version 4 hasn’t solved all the problems, communication with the neural DSP is terrible, they ignore all user requests, there’s no plugin support, I’ve been waiting for Petrucci for ages, and so on.
we’re happy to try to help you find satisfaction with the QC, if possible.
However, lots of what you just said there may be your personal experience, but it isn’t true overall. Their support communication is well-renown amongst most users, MANY of the top feature requests have been implemented, there are now 7 plugins ported thru QC and Petrucci is next up.
Some of these things take time to accomplish. It may not meet your expected schedule but you’re painting with a very wide brush there and a lot of those assertions are not quite accurate. It sounds like you’re frustrated with the QC; if there are specifics we can help with, this is a pretty tight community that will try to assist. But we’ve all had to cultivate a lot of patience with NDSP, it just comes with the territory.
I think what he said is pretty accurate.
- There are just so many unfinished business
check
- the new firmware version 4 hasn’t solved all the problems
check
- communication with the neural DSP is terrible
multiple conversations that felt very AI, were completely false or just dropped, so yeah, can definitely agree on this one, check
- they ignore all user requests
hard to tell which features were implemented because they were requested and which would have been done anyway. but certainly a lot are ignored and/or even worse, not implemented even when they could have been (instant tuner comes to mind).
- there’s no plugin support
NDSP said “pcom is here”. But it’ depends on what plugins you use. I bought 3, none are PCOM ready, so yeah, check.
- I’ve been waiting for Petrucci for ages
He is referring to this one, so there you go, check
- and so on
like better MIDI (midi thru disables MIDI out), basic FS improvements, captures and presets that aren’t from 1970 and wrong user names, … I could think of quite a few more.
I really like the QC for many reasons. Some great features over the last two updates as well. Credit where credit is due.
But let’s face it. NDSP treat their customer base with very little respect, to put it mildly. At any point they could change the PCOM “soon” info on their plugins. But they don’t. They still have it there.
This forum is proof as well. Eventide, Morningstar, Line 6, Fractal, etc. all answer their customers. NDSP seems to be above that.
Another thing. What do you get as a loyal NDSP customer, who bought many plugins and/or a premium modeller already? 20% off of your next plugin. Great. You also get that by owning a plugin. Or by just buying two at once. And if you really are a long term customer, you probably know that two times a year there is 50% off. In which case, the 20% aren’t even considered. Could go on as well.
So… yeah. I get the frustration.
Also I just realised who you are. Love your presets and captures you have been making for years. Great stuff and thanks for doing that!
The cloud and sharing of presets and captures unfortunately is another example of a problem NDSP is creating and not taking care of.
A few years ago, I just downloaded lots of stuff for fun. I don’t really do that anymore. Why? Well, because every second preset is made with an IR I don’t own, a capture that doesn’t exist anymore, effects from plugins I don’t own, created in hybrid mode which I don’t have set up, etc.
First world problem? Absolutely! But that is (or was) part of the fun of the QC. What does NDSP say about that? Nothing.
thanks @Gregory I really appreciate that.
I used to love that phase too, I’m pretty much on the same page now though. It’s definitely cluttered now, that’s for sure. Hopefully all these issues will get worked on at some point. I really feel like they’ve been picking up the pace recently but it’s certainly everyone else’s right to express their frustrations.
Here is my topic:
And here is a similar topics:
And this very important topic:
Did neural dsp react somehow? Did they fix it in firmware 4? NO!
coming over from Fractal, I’d say that having spillover and gapless would very nice to have, when using both patch changes really sound elegant imo… (feature request)
I have had the Helix, Kemper, FM9, Tonex and now the QC. I love my QC and would happily embrace any improvement like this. These little things are the kind of updates that would take the QC from amazing to OMG its untouchable.
Let’s do some calculations. If the “gig view” activated by a button was requested in 2022 and implemented in 2026, then using the same logic, the oldest request you marked was from 2024. Based on what the company has already shown, it should be improved in 2028. It could happen tomorrow, or maybe later, as they say… soon.
That’s the problem.
My experience is the opposite. They always answer and are very polite. You also need to keep the same thread.
I don’t know who they listen to, but they haven’t even switched presets without pauses yet.
That one is probably one of the hardest, if not impossible feature requests to implement. So far only fractal and helix have this feature, and even then it comes with compromises. NDSP also never said the QC would have this feature, so I think that’s something we can certainly hope for, but not demand.
A step into this direction though would be to have single blocks or even rows that work global and outside of the grid, which has be to loaded when switching presets. The looper and FX loop 1/2 are the most obvious ones for that, which I think should definitely behave like that. Right now it’s pretty annoying to use the looper or external pedals when switching through presets, as you have to modify each one.
Hey everyone, I’m looking at the QC MINI manual online and see this:
“PAGE SWAP VIA MIDI
Footswitch Pages can also be controlled by sending the following MIDI message to Quad Cortex mini:
-
CC#64 (Value 0-63): Page I
-
CC#64 (Value 64-127): Page I”
SHOULD the 2nd line with Value 64-127 supposed to say Page II?
I saw that too. It appears to be a typo.
