Hi everyone,
I really enjoyed and appreciated the Quad Cortex. I owned a Quad Cortex for a few months a while back but eventually decided to sell it. The main reason for me was the noise gate, which I felt was a bit of a “tone killer” and tended to affect the natural feel of the sound.
I’m now thinking about coming back to the Neural DSP ecosystem with the Quad Cortex Mini. Before pulling the trigger, I’d really like to hear from current users.
Has the noise gate improved since earlier firmware versions?
I was still on CorOS 2.
Thanks!
Some noise gates, such as Adaptive Gate, have been updated with a sidechain input.
You can set them after an amp block, but have them track the input signal.
I was not of the opinion that the gates were a “tone killer”, but the sidechain capability significantly improved gate functions.

Adaptive Gate with Sidechain is great. It triggers from your input signal. I don’t notice it changing the tone in any way. I would argue that noise gate pedals color the sound more.
If you want a transparent noise gate pedal I would suggest the Fortin Zuul+

So a more natural note length and sustain with the Adaptive Gate.
Thanks for your answers. DiffractionCircuit SelfTitledLP
