QC -> XR18 Output Volume

I am using my brand new QC with the latest update and the brilliant Archetype Nolly X plugin. I split my output so that 3 goes to my power amp then to my cab. Output 4 goes to my XR18 for my IEM. Except it doesn’t. The input being sent to the XR18 is virtually undetectable unless I crank the gain all the way to +60 on the digital mixer. This simply will no do.

I have validated all my levels, cables, etc. and I am just not getting a usable output. What should I try next?

That seems unusual. Are you running main QC volume @ max volume? Are your outputs lowered by mistake on that output or dodgy cable possibly

have you set the input on the Xr18 to line input..are your output levels for your IEM’s set correctly.

Your using output 4? Maybe you should go into one of the dedicated line inputs, 17/18 see if that helps

OK you say you validated all levels…

Thank you for the reply!

Yes, QC is at max volume. Outputs are validated at good levels. The XR18 is using line input. I tried using one of the balanced outputs with the same results. I will check it against 17/18 on the XR as you suggest and let you know the results.

EDIT: Same result using line. Tested direct from the back of the QC as well as swapping out cables. I am wondering if I should factory reset my XR18 and rebuild it’s mix. The QC has been updated and reset to stock. :frowning:

EDIT 2: Expanding on your line input advice I moved to try the balanced Output 1 and was able to push the gain up to tolerable levels without any noise! Problem is I still need an input gain of about +55 (my our mics are around +42 as a reference point) so this is tolerable to me. Still seems quiet but it works now.

Are you splitting a stereo signal coming out of the QC…have you enough rows left to do the preset on other rows duplicate it and see I don’t have nolly to test but maybe you could post your preset for people that have it, so they could test it for you aswell..

Can you post a pic of the preset aswell…

This happens through both stock (as mentioned, brand new unit) as well as the NollyX preset I am using here: https://cloud.neuraldsp.com/cloud/u/AWMusic/preset/view/0ca42c21-573a-449b-beb3-ca87c0f35844

@niMBis

Your 3rd is going to row 4… so there’s nothing going out on row 3 from what I can tell… row1 is going to row3 and your split is sending everything from 1 and 3 to row4 out is that what you want it to do?

Is your split in the wrong spot

On your post you say output 4 is going to your Xr18… do you mean row 4 if you mean output 4 it says output 1 not 4

To clarify, this is how my preset has been modified. Original version was quiet too:

Row 3 is out on 3 (TRS) to my poweramp which runs to a speaker cabinet.
Row 4 is out on 1 (XLR) to my XR18 but requires a 55db boost to be heard at a normal level. Via XLR(1) or TRS(4) has the same result.

Sorry missed that… I would assume you shouldnt have an issue with preset maybe you need to contact support… and send them your preset… see what they say… sorry I was no help

You mean Behringer support?

Well if you think it’s behringer at fault then yes…

I have contacted Neural DSP support and have yet to hear back from them. Same with Behringer, I just made the assumption that my QC would be as loud as my POD Go was through the same input. Seems strange to me that the QC would be so quiet. I wonder if an active DI box would correct this?

Hopefully someone will download your preset to double check incase you’ve missed somtin… are your outputs on the pull/swipe down menu all mono outputs as in unlinked from each other… I get plenty of juice on the outputs going into whatever gear I’m using…check your outputs there aswell maybe somtin is turned down

Yes - Can confirm all outputs are in mono mode and the gain is at unity +/- 0. I think the XR18 may just need a whole lotta signal to come through. Very strange indeed. I have submitted a ticket to them to ask. I really do appreciate all of the help and fresh perspective, I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to sort it.
