Do you know if it’s safe to used cioks crux to power on the QC mini?
Based on the QC mini manual, the power input is 12V 1.2A.
The CIOKS CIO-CRX CRUX DC output is 12v 2A.
I want to run the QC mini into my analog board.

Yes, you can use the Cioks Crux for this.
As you an expert here , please, can you tell me if it’s possible to power the mini with just 12V 1A. I have cioks 4 and I like it because it’s very small and I’m thinking to buy a ciioks 8800 cable to sum the current that is delivered by each 12V output from CIOKS 4. TIA
QC Mini is rated for 12V 1.2 A. I would highly suggest not trying to power this with any less.
On the Cioks 4, the 12V output setting is rated for 500 mA maximum for each output. If you parallel 3 out of the 4 outputs for a combined 1500 mA (1.5 A), you should be totally fine.

While investigating this subject, I came across a to this Reddit post Reddit - Please wait for verification where, supposedly, a CIOKS support representative stated that the Quad Cortex Mini runs at full power while drawing less than 1 A, and the full-size Quad Cortex draws less than 2 A. Based on that, combining two 12 V outputs should be sufficient to power the Cortex Mini safely.

I’m coming back to this topic because I don’t want someone else to find it and think that there aren’t risks.
Here is a test that someone ran on their QC Mini. It measured right at 1A during both boot up and stable operation:
I’ve seen where Cioks owners are using just two 500 mA outputs to power a QC Mini. That’s fine–but I want you to understand that there is an increased risk involved with running the outputs of a power supply at maximum. The thermal stress that this applies to the transformer and other components inside can affect the longevity of your power supply. Adding more current capability (paralleling three 500 mA outputs for a combined 1.5A) helps to mitigate that risk.
I think it’s irresponsible that Cioks have been telling people to just use two outputs from their supplies. They haven’t been forthcoming about how much their supplies can tolerate this in the long term.
If you’re going to spend over $1K on a piece of gear that is meant for live use, don’t treat it with the bare minimum required to power it.
I agree. Thanks for shedding more light on this topic. Once I get mine (hopefully soon!!) I’ll power with 4 outputs like I do the big QC. Fortunately I don’t need to use that spare output.
If Cioks made a cheap tripler adapter that would be nice.
Don’t do this please. Running these digital modelers less than their rated isn’t a great choice

I think power supplies need to be more than 1.3 to 1.5 times to the rated input demand of the modules.
That PD power supply on the photo has 30W(12V2.5A) output, but we should use less than 20-23W(12V 1.6-1.9A) for safty, I guess.
