QC keeps crashing after installing the 3.2.0

CorOS Version: 3.2.0

Describe your issue:
My qc has crashed 6 times in the past couple days when downloading presets.

Steps to reproduce your issue:

  1. Step 1: fire it up
  2. Step 2 Download a couple of presets
  3. Step 3 crashes and restarts. Once, it froze completely, and I had to cut the power and restart it.

I expected this to happen:
When I do x, I expect y to happen, I expect it to work like it did before I updated it.

I have tried the following things:

  • I have tried there’s nothing I can do about it; it just crashes, but I haven’t had any issues with the last update with the new amps and delays.

The typical process is suggested to back up, factory reset and restore 1st. If that doesn’t resolve your issues, suggest to email support@neuraldsp.com so they can log and hopefully resolve your issue quickly.

I am having the same issue. I have factory reset twice. No improvement. I have loaded backups twice, no improvement. Anytime I try to make a change to a signal chain it locks up and reboots. I have not reached out to support yet, just letting you know you are not the only one experiencing this issue.

Sorry to hear about your issues. If possible, contact support etc., they will likely have you guys send diagnostic logs as well

Is this from editing on the QC itself; does it also crash if using Cortex Control?

it crashes from editing either on the QC or through Cortex Control. Both are upgraded (QC - CorOS 3.2.0, Cortex Control - CorOS 1.3.0). The first thing I noticed after updating the QC was that while in LooperX, the volume will randomly popup on the screen as though I am adjusting it via the knob. Needless to say I was not manipulating the knob but I didn’t think to much of it. I then went into one of my favorite presets. It is pretty CPU heavy and I can not add additional devices to the preset for this reason. This was the case before update as well but had no problems with removing devices or moving them around if I wanted too. I tried to remove a device (tap-hold-drag-drop to trash can) and as soon as I “let go” in the trash can, it locked up. This happened three times before I tried a completely blank preset (building preset from scratch). All seemed well there. I haven’t gotten to deep into trying much more than adding an amp and cab.

After this, I did a factory reset. Loaded an old backup, same problem. Tried it all again. Reset, load backup, same problem. Finally I tried Cortex Control. Any attempt at editing the “CPU Heavy” preset causes a lockup and reboot.

Perhaps it is a problem with this particular preset as others seem to be working but I haven’t really had a chance to work this thing hard since I updated it last Thursday evening.

It sounds like a corrupt preset which support should be able to identify and resolve once they collect diagnostics from your QC

I’m having the exact same issue. I’ve attempted both cloud and local backup. The software crashes everytime.

Cortex Control v1.3.0

CorOS v3.2.1

You also need to update CoCo- it’s on v1.3.1

I updated to v1.3.1…..same issue
If I bypass the Cortex Control software and do a cloud backup from the Quad Cortex directly….success!

they recommend a clean install for CoCo- not sure how vital that is, but I know it’s what they recommend. Uninstall old version, install new. (I’ve never done it that way, it seems to work OK on Mac anyway)

I’ve seen reports of difficulties backing up, sometimes it requires contacting Support@neuraldsp.com to clear your online cache (or something)

Have you tried restoring settings thru Recovery Mode?

Never done that way, either. Perhaps I should. Works just fine within my Mac ecosystem as well

I’m working with Support now. Thanks for the help
