Is anyone using a preamp or compressor or the like in front of the QC for a little added action?
I’ve heard of that, anyone using any particular pedals?
I tried with a few for a while; RNDI, Cali 76tx compressor, Chase Tone Secret preamp- none made enough difference for me to need to keep them in addition to the QC. The only other thing I run with it now is the Meris LVX in the loop.
I’ve seen lots of users, esp bassists, capture their preamps and use those instead of external hardware.
And yes, really nothing needed it seemed.
The QC is pretty warm sounding and feels good right out of the gate.
I use the cali76-tx (bass) 100% of the time in front of the QC, always on. Probably from lack of trying and/or ignorance, but i’ve never been able to find an agreeable comparison.
And its indispensable with my stereo parallel rig (wet/dry), as it has dual outs.
Earthquaker Hizumitas in front of the QC because it rules. The QC’s Big Muff model/captures just don’t quite get there for me.
I use plenty of other external pedals in the FX loops, but that’s another topic.
