I am using a Powerstage 170 pedal amp connected to a kemper loaded cab (no power, just the speaker) … it sounds fantastic. The cab is a Montage Thiele with bass reflex port… fantastic cab, a pity is not any more in production. Total weight the cab and speaker of 13,6 kg (ia thw old keper cone that weights a bit more than the new. The QC goed with the cab activated as the kemper speaker is an FRF
answering to that, if you are on a big stage and can use in ears with a mix that you can control, no amp needed. In ears only with pyur sound does not work for me. If you have access to a monitor on stage, I prefer my cab and speaker (sound more acurrate and inspire more my playing) . matter of taste.
GSS (guitar sound systems) has some nice power amps, just an input and a volume knob. Works great with my Bass cabs via Neutric connector (Eden XST and my DIY Greenboy cab)
Previously I used a tech21 VTBass in mu band and only used the return on the FX loop to bypass the preamp, but that amp died on me last week. At home I already used a pre-owned GSS Baby Sumo.
Today I received the 1000Watt Sumo version, sounds good and has a little more power than the Baby Sumo
Designed to be transparent, so ideal in combination with the Quad Cortex
Not having live cabs on stage is pretty goofy tbh. It’s so awkward when the stage is just drums, and you can even hear the guitars if you’re standing in front. Never sounds great in mid size venues when you aren’t filling out the sound with actual cabs
nah, that’s just your opinion. I know for the logistical advantages of not carrying amps and cabs and therefore am cool with no amps on stage regardless of the size of the stage.
Hi!
Do you run out of output 3/4, and is that linked or just out of output 3?
And do you use a TRS or TS cable into the powerbaby 100?
Thank you
