I’m using the Quad Cortex live and let reaper(daw cia Macbook) do the pc/cc changes. I use the pitch block via the expression setting. I’ve noticed when programming dive bombs/pitch bends that it is not smooth. You can hear the semitone steps in the bend. Coming from the Kemper this new to me. The Kemper does this smooth without this kind of stutter while pitching.
I’ve tested this with the pitch shifter, transpose and the wham. All had that problem.
Has anyone had that experience too and is there a solution for this?
MIDI will shift the pitch by discrete numbers (0-127), so it will always sound “stepped”. Obviously, the Transpose will be stepped by half-step increments, but the regular pitch shifter will step its cents divided by 128 (which doesn’t divide evenly by the 50 or 100 cents).
May need to just use an actual analog expression pedal for the smoothest operation.
I’m using the whammy block for midi automated dive bombs too and I never noticed any audible steps (using a distorted tone and the whammy placed before any distortion). You have to make sure that reapers MIDI timing resolution is set to a a high enough value.
