Out Levels w/ Captures& Seymour Duncan Power Stage

Has anyone noticed that their captures come out of the unit hotter than the built-in amps? I have made several captures on different days with different amps. No matter what I do I can’t seem to get the out level to the PS above halfway to the red before the PS clip light starts flashing. It does not happen with the built in amps

I have tried multiple Power Stage units as well to see if that was the issue but all do it. wasn’t sure if this is just an artifact of the capture process or what.

The only reason I ask is because sometimes I end up running into a tube power amp and the output is too low so I need to crank the out level to almost hitting the red. Then, when I go back to the PS that level sets the PS clip into a frenzy and I have to drop it significantly.

Probably because most tube amps need to see line level, which is more output than the PS which just needs instrument level.

Also with captures you need to make sure the level isn’t clipping, and have the proper gain staging when making the capture. You can adjust the level of all the built in amps with the output control. There isn’t any reason why the captures would be hotter than the built in amps if you’re adjusting it that way.
