Option for effect slot (even if it‘s just eq) instead of IR

There are lots of requests for more effects slots on the nano, or more flexibility for what goes in each slot, or the ability to have two capture slots. I’m thinking that hardware limitations might prevent a lot of this.

Something that might be easy though, would be to have an option to replace the IR loader with an effect slot, even if it’s just EQ. I haven’t found any other requests for this, so thought I’d post. This option could be used with a cab capture, when the IR slot would otherwise be turned off.

As a kind of workaround, I’m going to try loading in a blank IR, which doesn’t affect the sound, so that one can at least use the low and high pass filters in the IR loader. Would be great not to do this and have a proper effect slot there though!

Happy to report the blank IR thing works! You can make your own blank one, but it’s a slight fiddle. Easier to download one, I found one here:

Yeah the blank IR workaround is pretty much the only viable hack right now and it makes sense

but it won’t be easy to swap the IR loader for, say, an EQ in an FX slot – that block is integrated into the post-cab chain in the nano architecture, not just a movable slot

The cleaner fix would be to have a dedicated post-cab EQ rather than trying to repurpose the IR stage realistically
