Okay, so what's next?

We’ve just received 3.2.0, and pretty rapid response to bugs, with today’s 3.2.1.

So what’s next? I’m not asking about new things or ideas that haven’t been discussed, and I know that they’re still working the whole plug in integration… but what do we think is coming down the pipe soon in terms of new amps, new effects, and UI upgrades?

Here are my hopes:

  • I’d like to see any of the amps from the amp suite plug ins added: Imperial Tone King, Morgan, Mesa Boogie Mark II+, not necessarily the plugin themselves but just some of these amps. Given that none of these plug ins are on the list to be updgraded
  • Synth blocks
  • Expanded bandwidth for looping in terms of channels and controls
  • Drum machine!!! Wouldn’t take much (it seems to me) to implement that with the metronome
  • Blue tooth (I’ve never been clear on whether the Quad Cortex has or doesn’t have the physical hardware already onboard to implement this.

Let’s hear it.

I would take a look at the top featured requests, NDSP seems to be knocking those out slowly

*YET

Plug-ins like the Mesa, Morgan, Tone King, and Granophyre don’t have the “PCOM Coming Soon!” banner on them on the Neural site, but the goal is still to update them as part of PCOM. The dev team have been focused on the heavy-hitter Archetype plug-ins so far, which makes a lot of sense, but let’s not rule out the others.

Agreed. Just seems like there’s so much “work” in porting these. Almost seems easier to just use that device of theirs to model said amps again and release them that way.

While I don’t disagree with this, I was looking more for personal wants and which things might get knocked off first.

I think the audio codec changeover thing threw them off for several months. I’m thinking about recording a video describing what that process is like (as a hardware engineer who has had to deal with similar issues in my work) to give some perspective. Hoping that the pace of PCOM releases will pick back up from here on.

Anyway, on to your question… There was a screenshot that turned up in this forum which showed a dedicated synth block on the QC, obviously prototyped. Not sure if it was a standalone thing or if it was part of Archetype Rabea, but if it’s real I’m definitely looking forward to it.

EDIT: This thread has the synth block screenshots…

Not clear on the bluetooth capability either, although I remember reading on here that the wi-fi module does support bluetooth so it would be a matter of activation. That’s all I know. More and more people use this for playback, so if the functionality is there then this would be a no-brainer going forward. But an engineer I am decidedly not, so I have no idea how complex this would be — since I don’t know, my expectations are low.

But also: yes, synth block +1000000!

Agreed! synth block +1000000!

I’d love to see more entries in the Morph category. Not exactly sure what those would be, but Freeze is looking kinda lonely these days. Some OBNE or Chase Bliss-style over-the-top fx would get my vote.

I think this is the first time we have absolutely no idea what’s coming next other than the 3 PCOMs they mentioned a while ago

I’d assume (hope) we will see a new development update with their future plans post 3.2.1

Actually that’s a much better answer, than the question I was originally asking. What’s happening, what can we actually expect, and when do we think we’ll actually see it.

Synth block +80000000000000

It’s the biggest “missing piece” in my eyes

For me a feedbacker would be the nr 1 priority for this thing. I got rid of my digitech freqout because it has its issues, but having the feedback there really brings out another dimension of playing

Reminder to keep things civil and on topic. Thanks!

I recommend practicing, learning and trying to sound better.

Too much flexibility ( being in a top 40 band may require it ) may end up having no characteristic sound / voice / tone.

So with these available opportunities try to balance your extremely valuable sessions between trying out new amps and learning new things and getting better at your instrument.
1 delay, 1 drive and 1 amp may be all you need.

Just a friendly reminder.

And let’s go on with requests that will make NC is the best unit out there
