At my last gig the band went through the set pre-show sound check. When the show began my intro was completely botched because the Nano Cortex just stopped working. There was no audio, no signal, no error messages. Nothing! To get it to work again I had to un-plug the power to it and plug it back in! This is un-acceptable shoddy performance of this device! I won’t be using it again for live performances because it CANNO’T BE TRUSTED to work properly! Frankly I wish I could get a full refund for this garbage door stop! it’s one P.O.S. !
Have you reached out to support yet? if so, what did they recommend and or do?
Haven’t had this issue or seen many reports.
Mine has bricked twice recently. I’m not sure why. I suspect it doesn’t like getting a lot of rapid midi messages but I’m not sure.
Bricked, meaning replaced twice?
Bricked as in possessed the functionality of a brick: it just sat there. No sound output and nonresponsive to any commands.
Thanks for details, when one says something is bricked it usually means it no longer functions and results in RMA / repair. That is why I was wondering if you had to replace it twice. Please guys, email support@neuraldsp.com and let them know of your issues, they need to log these issues and hopefully provide support via a software update.
Yeah, it rebooted after unplugging/plugging it in.
I haven’t contacted support yet because I don’t have much to explain. If it becomes a pattern, I will (they tend to be helpful), but so far I haven’t sent like 12 PC messages to it in 12 seconds again and it’s been fine.
Mine worked fine through siund check with simple commands. Exp pedal for vol swells some effects switching basica on / off type of thing and bank up bank down pf a setlist. Thats it. We finished sound check came back in 10 minutes qhwre nothing was touched and it was completely un-responsive. These pedals are not cheap and for all the bragotto NDSP does I frankly expect a lot more feom them! It isn’t rocket science and they should have it figured out by now. As I said I can’t trust it and I won’t be using it live again
Cool, glad to hear it. The advantage of emailing support is they can look at logs/diagnostics and determine the source of the issue(s). ![]()
So did you contact support? They can only figure out something if they are aware of the issue(s).
Just a guess but seems like midi may be a common thread. Neural has told me they are aware of midi bugs and already have a fix to release with a future update. I just wish they would release the update soon.
That is helpful information, thanks!
Yeah, MIDI seems to be doing tricky things. Many of us have had issues with that. I told support but they couldn´t replicate the things I was experiencing… hell, I couldn´t either… issues happened whenever they wanted. I´d swear that mine stopped failing since I started using USB MIDI instead of the TRS port. But I can´t confirm because I´ve had little activity with the Nano lately. Anyhow, Firmware update is delaying too much. Not only for fixing these MIDI problems, which are a MUST for live use and should be priorized and solved ASAP, but also for giving us the promised V2 capturing.
A silent dropout mid-set is miserable, and the detail that a power cycle brought it back is worth writing down while it is fresh. What you were switching at that moment, how long it had been powered, what was feeding it, and the firmware version all help. Support tends to move on a repeatable sequence plus logs, while a single unexplained failure usually stalls. If it has to go back on stage before you trust it, a fallback you can reach without touching the unit keeps one glitch from taking the whole intro with it.
Yeah I get the same response from support …. “send us a video of the issue and …we can’t seem to duplicate it”. This isn’t the only time this has happened. It seems to be random failures at the worst times! Anyway thankfully I have another very capable rig I’ll be using from now on. And … it actually sounds better anyway but its heavy. Too bad the light weight Nano C idea didn’t work out.
