Nano Cortex Di/pass through box suggestion. Head capture

I want to capture my marshal dsl20HR head without speaker cab and mic. I tried the Behringer di ultra gI100. the Di box had allot of noise before starting the capture by itself withouth the nano plugged in. The capture worked but had artifacts in it. I tried the ground loop buttons on the di box and the nano but still had the issue. What other DI /passthrough boxes can I use? I was thinking about the tonex z-tone? I dont need a load box. I only want to preform the capture of this head so I can use the tones at home and leave the amp at practice. Any recomendations. Is the tonex ztone ok to use? I wanted to check before buying anything else.

Ive used the Neve RNDI on 70+ captures with good results. Not cheap, but excellent.

thanks Topherbass. I only plan on doing one may two amp head captures to ge the same tones at home for recording. Has anyone else tried the tonex box or something in that price range? Nerual emailed me back saying I have to use a load box. Is this correct?

Hi Eric,

Thanks for reaching out.

You will need a Load Box if you want to capture an amp head. According to the specs we were able to find, that specific device is not a Load Box, which means you cannot use it for that purpose.

If you’re looking for a Load Box to capture amp heads, we recommend checking the Suhr Reactive Load Box.

Please feel free to keep us in the loop.

you tried to capture your head without a load? you’re lucky you didn’t kill it. and of course it will sound shitty. you need a load box or leave the cab connected to the through connector of your di

I had the cab connected to the through. The Behringer is noisy.

ah, ok. i already thought i misunderstood that. did you try a passive di box yet? i’ve had good results with the thomann millenium di-e. or anything else really. no active parts, no lt so much extra noise
