My Quad Cortex is behaving strangely - Anyone else had this happen?

I think @aoloso was referring to other posts where there were discussions about the hardware changes that gradually happened over the years due to obsolescence, cost optimisations, etc.
But nevertheless, I guess the answer is still the same “nobody knows”

Thats what i meant, right.
We’ll see - hopefully after sending it back to thomann, i won’t have this problem anymore.

actually there is a different design with a differerent inverted I/O board with everything mounted on the opposite side of the board. Here is a picture of what units started looking like in 2024 compared to the previous years. FIrst pic is the older units. The second picture are the ones that should be in stock at most retailers that cycle a large amount of inventory.

You cant see the codec on this unit as the board is inverted. I have no idea if it has the new one or not. Probably not. But if it doesnt it shows they were planning to revamp the internals for SOME reason other than the codec.

again. There was nothing gradual about it. The cortex was made the exact same way with the exact same components since its inception. The only changes were possibly who a part was sourced from but the actual parts purpose, value and architecture remained intact until the newer units started shipping. But with as many failures for as many different reasons as Im reading and having experienced my own. It would seem like i just said above, I dont think they did this just to save money.

I used to have this issue from time to time. I have just done the CorOS 3.2.0 update and now my unit is permanently in this state. no matter how many times I reboot it…. be careful out there..

Ugh. That’s awful. Per usual, Neural released this update while I was on vacation away from home so I haven’t tried it yet. I’m hoping a 3.2.1 comes out that fixes this for you soon. Please send to Neural support

I think this is the final straw im just gonna send the unit back for repair and deal with a few weeks or so without it… I use it professionally 3-4 times per week so time to dust off the old analog pedals stashed under the house!

So it happened again on a gig saturday… i had to restart the device multiple times (without anything plugged in) which did cost me 30 minutes to get ready (after setting up everything like mixer, cables, amps, helping the crew, etc).

I don’t have any shows until october so i’m sending it back today, hope they actuall know how to fix this (new board/QC). I haven’t had any issues with the QC for 2 years straight. But this issue is pretty annoying as my only requirement/demand for equipment such as the QC is → it has to work immediately because it’s my working gear as a professional musician.

Right before the release of the Stadium i’m right on the edge for migrating to this unit cause Line 6 is in the game for a long time and i can’t afford it having an unconsistent unit. (and i’m not buying a second unit just because it’s possible that it will have this issue again)

Edit: so the unit was send to Neural by my music store, as they weren’t able to fix this (which i already predicted)

Now i have to wait 2-4 Weeks. Hopefully i will receive a working QC until mid october, when we’re playing the next shows.

Update Folks:

My I/O Board got changed. The QC came back from Neural today.

Guess what→ now the display is broken…. First bootup it kinda had a yellow touch (like nightshift on the iphone). So i rebooted the QC. Nothing happend. The lights flashed several times then everything was dark for few minutes until one light was active, but still a inactive display. I can do things on Cortex Control but not on the device itself.

I’m frustrated af now. I wrote Thomann if there is a possibliby of a refund, i’m gonna go with something else i guess. I had no issues for 2 years, but i have several shows coming up and can’t manage having a device which isn’t stable.
