In a live gig situation with the Quad Cortex, I plan to assign a separate preset for each song, and within each preset, I would create scenes for the different song sections. After finishing a song, I would remain in scene mode i presume. How can I smoothly transition to the next preset, and what’s the best way to manage this?
you’ll want to read up on Hybrid Mode; you can select 2 modes at a time with half your switches for presets and the other half for scenes (or stomps). This might be your best bet.
I’m pretty sure even in Scene Mode you can still change Presets from the 2 right-most switches. However, a lot of users find the process a little clunky.
Will you be using an eXpression Pedal (XP) or external midi controller? Those could open up other options for you. Midi over XP lets you add functions to your exp pedal that expand its capabilities, esp if it has a toe-switch
Not to sound too sarcastic… but, press the Preset switch?
The Preset up/down switches on the upper right remain active. You can remain in scene mode and use the up arrow to move to the next song. You would want to create a custom bank/setlist with your songs in the right order, and use the song title as the name of the preset.
Can you expand on this? Can this be done with a standard expression pedal or are you talking about using a MIDI controller as an expression pedal?
Under the Preset Midi Out menu, you can assign up to 4 CCs per XP (regular TRS-connected expression pedal)
I use it to call up the tuner or gig view pretty much, but you could assign it to any of the CCs, same as the other footswitches.
I use the MIdi jumper hack w/ my QC, I’m not absolutely sure but I think it might be required for sending Midi commands by XP back to the QC itself.
