Hello to everyone on the Forum.
I’m new here and glad to be a QC user .
I’m wandering if i can use a switch pedal like the Boss FS-5L to switch between 2 scenes into a preset.
Rhythm/ Lead.
Is it only midi that i should use?
Thanks a lot

Why not use scene mode to just switch between scenes?
You can utilize most simple TS switch pedals by connecting them to the exp inputs but they can only be assigned to blocks directly (just like an expression pedal) to toggle the respectives blocks on/off state. If you want to switch to a specific scene you need to send midi commands (or use the QCs own footswitches)
I wanted to have a simple external switch to do scene changes so I dont step on the QC.
I know there is midi option to but in was wandering if EXP would work for that.
You guys answered my question.
Thanks
An option to be able to change Scenes via XP would be to use the ‘midi jumper hack’ where you loop the QC to its own Midi w/ 1 cable. This allows you to send midi CCs (up to 4) from each XP.
You could only use 1 switch per XP, but it would allow you to toggle between 2 Scenes (or call up the tuner, or GIg View, etc)
Mmm this option seems to suits m’y need. I will have to dig into the QC to understand how to do that but thanks.
It’s not too complicated and the doc on the wiki page should include most of the necessary info. Between that, the midi chart in the manual, and this forum we should be able to walk you thru it if you decide to give it a try for using Midi via XP commands.
(I experimented a bit to see if it was tricky at all, and actually discovered you can switch between more than just 2 Scenes by using the pedal sweep of an XP. It’s not efficient and probably wouldn’t be easy to do live, but if you have an XP w/ a toe-switch you can pretty easily switch between 3 Scenes: XP heel=1, XP toe=2, switch=3. I probably wouldn’t try more than that, it gets a little wonky trying to read the pedal position)
You meen that i can use a Expression pedal like a volume/WHA to change between Scenes?
I think it’s a better idea than a switch.
What kind of XP pedal do you recommand for that? A heavy and steady one, that i’ll use on stage to go from Rhythm to Lead in a simple sweep.
I’m also realising as i go deeper into the manual that i could stay inside the same scene and XP assign the block that are turned on/off for lead.
Delay/Reverb/ Less gate/ Mid EQ boost…
So i make 1 scene per song with Delay synced to the tempo
Yes, and with an actual pedal rather than a switch you have more versatility because you can use it for other things that a switch couldn’t do.
The Mission Engineering or Lehle XPs are top-of-the-line, very sturdy choices, if a bit pricey.
I also use the Hotone Ampero Press II which is more light-weight and portable; it matches the size of the QC and fits pedalboards better.
If you really only want to switch between two scenes, one single XP would work fine for that, and it still leaves the second XP connection available. Some people use 2 XP pedals so you can have independent control of various fx.
Keep in mind this ONLY WORKS if you use the midi-jumper-hack (1 cable connecting the QC midi jacks to each other)
It’s also true that you can skip all this and just assign those parameters/bypasses to Scenes; 1 switch can toggle between amps, fx settings, all the same things you could assign an XP to.
I suggested the midi hack only because you mentioned not wanting to step on the QC
thanks a lot for the answer.
yes a pedale such as the mission engineering will be fine for me.
I want to do a simple setup with just 2 sounds, wich is what i use live with my band.
Put the QC pedalboard a little bit on right side of me, and having only a pedal to step on, in front of my mic.
Protect the QC from Death Metal maniacs🦀
Would my Ernie Ball VP Jr , volume pedal do the trick with “Midi Hack mode”
I like this pedale a lot in term of weight and toughness.
I see on the Forum some guys using it.
I can’t say for sure, but it looks like with the correct adapter cable it might be doable.
I have that pedal, but have never tried it as XP. If I can scare up a TRS Y-splitter cable I’ll give it a try to confirm. As long as the QC can read that pedal, the midi hack will work
ok. very kind of you for trying that eventualy.
having a hard time finding the right cable or adapter but working on it.
Is it a Dunlop or an Ernie Ball VP Jr? Mine is the EB, not Dunlop now that I look at it.
my bad it is EBall VPJr
apologies for the delay. Finally found the correct cable for testing and confirm it works with the Stereo 1/4" to Y-split 2 x mono 1/4" cord.
Thanks I’ll definitly try that.
