Looper pedal

Hi, I think it would be so cool if Nano Cortex supports looper pedal feature too. Just 1 btn simple looper would make NC much more versatile for live performances!

Hello, I can recommend loopy pro on iPhone or IPad connected to Nano Cortex. Cheers Ben

Not only for live use, the Nano Cortex would be the best travel companion available if it has a looper function integrated.

Absolutely. I was thinking about this during last weeks. This would be a great addition.

I also recommend Loopy Pro. Excellent option.

It’s not that there are no other ways to have a looper. Be it loopy or a looper pedal. It’s just a feature request. If I gig my acoustic duo, for instance, I use the iPad to control the mixer, I don’t want to hook it up to the Nano. Nor I want to bring an extra pedal.

That’s what this request is about, not to find a workaround.

I understand. It is also not very useful to have extra looper since NC does not have a feedback loop option. Because if you have an external looper, you can not record NC FX into a looper track unless it is placed after the NC. Then you loose the Balanced Outs and you need to get an isolator to got the FOH. So more and more gear which defeats the purpose of having an all around small device for everything.

If it was inside the Nano Cortex as an effect, just like the TC Elc. Plethora series, then you could place the looper last in the signal chain.
However, there are still two critical requirements that this looper effect need to satisfy.

  1. Ability to loop minimum 60 seconds stereo.
  2. Ability to overdub more than the initial loop just like some Boss loopers and Ditto+ ( e.g. initial loop 2 bars but overdub could be multiplication of first loop 2, 4, 6, or 8 bars. ). Then, we would have a credible/usable looper live.

If we have a single track 30 seconds mono looper, it is just a house entertainment toy.

The reason why I suggested these other options was I did not expect a credible looper to be inside NC. I would love to have a decent looper so I support your request and I am voting now for it.

Fair enough.

Anyhow, a simple imperfect looper would also be very useful in small gigs when you also do the sound. In a bar or cafe, where the mixer is beside you, you don’t need balanced outputs at all, and you can run the looper to walk around with the iPad to tweak the sound. That’s what I’d use the looper for, and I’d avoid to bring an external pedal.

If the looper is inside the Nano Cortex as software, you do not lose balanced outputs.
All you need is a pair of TRS→XLR converters ( for stereo or single for mono ) like these…

You´re absolutely right. I just mixed subjects there.

My point is that small gigs don´t really need balanced connections. A 3m cable in a small stage is not going to throw any noise or signal loss issues… so external pedals wouldn´t cause problems in that regard.

But for the use case I would like to have a looper (sound checks or very simple loops in acoustic duos), if the Nano featured such a looper, of course I could still use the balanced outputs.
