Option to use the capture out - capture in as an FX loop!
Even though this would disable stereo output, I think much more players would be able to integrate the NC into their setup with a FX loop. This would also make capturing OD pedals and multiple OD pedals easier.
Iām not certain if this is mechanically possible, but if it is, it would at least be a nice way to shut up everyone complaining that it doesnāt have one ![]()
If the firmware allows for re-assigning I/O routing, I think this would be an amazing feature enhancement. I agree that at first it didnāt seem like a huge deal (definitely isnāt a dealbreaker for me!), but the more I think about it, the added versatility to use this pedal - and all its amazing amps/cabs/tones - anywhere in any signal chain would create limitless possibilities (and would stop all the whining about its āfixed signal chainā lol)
From reviewing the manual it seems the capture input routes to the USB audio track 2 so the hardware seems to be more than capable of routing the signal as an alternate instrument input
It would be another dream come true if they can implemte an fx llop with the existing outputs/inputs. Hear us NDSP!
Bump. Any chance on this one?
Analog insert using the capture input and route to TRS output and headphones.
Capture input already routes to usb track 2 so maybe not too much to implement to analog outputs?
You can take one of the outputs as send for a loop before final D/A to remaining outputs.
This is a feature on competing products.
The FX loop send dry out and the FX loop return summing mixer is nice for a looper, a guitar synth, a mixer, a switcher and whatever else you want but the device canāt do. In some cases however, it is not only nice but necessary, because tracking tilts in the Nano itself, guitar synths, chorus and so on, unless they get a completely dry signal.
Bump. Should we expect this feature?
I think it just might. Think about the sound card function and how you can choose different I/Os on software ( driver ). It might be possible.
Now, there are real benefits here for it.
For me⦠reasons are:
1- Iām using a looper. If I had an FX loop, I would put all the time based FX inside the FX-loop and have the opportunity to send main outs to FOH. So the looper could record driven sounds or transposed base sounds and really integrate in to the system.
2- We have this wonderful option to send our signal directly from Nano to FOH. Iām using TRSāXLR Female for this. It works like a charm. No isolators or DI boxes needed. However, I cannot mix my Strymon Flint & Timeline in to the signal chain so that is out of the question. It has to be the last in the signal chain to use.
3- I have TonexOne pedal now and I could use it for captured drives and put it after or before wah or compressors etc..
4- I have some boutique drives that I like a lot. For instance my Arc Effects SoothSayer.
I would love it to be inside the signal chain combined with a compressor or wah.
I could go on and on..
It would just be a simple solution.
Right now, we do not have spring or plate reverb. My Flint would just solve this with an FX loop.
I could use my looper the right way. Use my drives.. See with one FX loop.
This would make Nano a lot more competitive against an HX Stomp and others.
Even Fractal AM4.
So please think about this. It would be huge. I know the signal chain is fixed but it could be a parallel fx loop. Another option could be that the FX loop would replace an effect before the capture/IR block or after. I would give up a drive inside Nano for a replacement FX Loop so I could use my boutique drive. Or, I could replace the reverb block with an FX loop to use with my Flint. See how the possibilities are increasing exponentially? This would just be great ![]()
Hi
I understand the Nano Cortex was designed for simplicity, but the lack of a physical FX Loop is a dealbreaker for many who want to use their own spatial pedals (Reverbs/Delays) after a Capture. I have a technical proposal to solve this via firmware:
The āVirtual Mono Loopā Mode: Since many players run mono setups, you could implement a mode that reassigns the existing hardware:
-
Output L: Remains the Main Mono Output.
-
Output R: Becomes a software-assignable SEND (Post-Capture signal).
-
Capture Input: Becomes a RETURN port when the unit is not in āCapture Mode.ā
By adding a āUtility Blockā in the Cortex Cloud app to manage these I/O assignments, you would allow us to integrate our favorite outboard gear without needing new physical ports.
This would make the Nano Cortex the ultimate āCenterpieceā for small hybrid pedalboards.
So true. Especially when we are missing Spring, Plate reverbs. My Flint would be perfect in the loop.
Will they take it into account?
They read everything of course but I did not see any similar acknowledgement before.
We will know once the new firmware update comes in. If it was me and it was easy to do ( we donāt know), I would do it. Because HX Stomp is a similar priced competitor and has an FX Loop.
