Live settings

Hi just bought a Quad Cortex, and very new to it, in fact just opening it today
. When playing in a live setting big venue, what are most people using with the cortex? Guitar amp, power amp with a cabinet or direct into the PA?

If you’re that new to it, may I suggest if you’re going to build your own presets- make a template with the basics in it and then you always have a starting point with all the options you’ll need every time you start a new one. You can configure it to cover all possibilities output-wise, whether you’re going to an amp, an FRFR/monitor, PowerAmp/cab, or FOH/PA.

For example, find an OD/amp/cab combo you like (you can easily replace them to experiment next time you build a preset). Put a SEND block right before your Cab block and you use that Send Output of your QC to connect to a powerAmp/cab. Set your main Output block to Out 1/2 for XLRs out to the FOH with your entire chain.

Save a basic preset like that as a template, and then build new ones off of that to experiment with other features or fx. It can save you a lot of time and error. There are TONS of different ways of configuring your signal chain so once you’ve narrowed down how you’re going to approach it, we can make other suggestions based on that, if you need it

I’ve used mine with an amp in 4 cable method, power amp with cab, and a 12 inch powered PA speaker as a stage monitor.

The QC sounds amazing in the effects loop of a 100w amp into 2 212 cabs! However, after playing around with the built in amps, I found I really like the way they sound. So much so, that I now play just the QC with a powered PA cab ( not an frfr ) as a monitor on stage if not using IEM

I figure if I can get a sound I like out of the PA speaker/monitor, then what comes out the FOH will sound the way I would like it too. The best part with this setup imo, is you just have to set your output to 1 & 2 for both. You can also use the level control on the monitor to turn it up or down without affecting the signal to FOH.

I hadn’t intended to play like this, but it sounds good enough to hardly justify setting up an amp in my world nowadays. It’s a very quick and effective setup for anything I’d ever need to do.

There are plenty of amps and captures in the QC to cover any sound you like, and so easy to setup. Congrats on your new toy
