Linux Support and User Experiences with Neural DSP Plugins! 😁

Hi everyone,

I’m a long-time Neural DSP customer and currently own the Archetype: Gojira and Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ suites.

I’m currently in the process of migrating my music production workflow from Windows to Linux. So far, the transition has been surprisingly smooth. My audio interface works perfectly, REAPER runs very well on Linux, and most of my workflow is already functional.

The main challenge preventing me from fully switching is Neural DSP plugin support.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time trying to run my Neural DSP plugins through compatibility layers such as Wine, Yabridge, and other solutions, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get them working reliably. Before I continue troubleshooting, I’d like to ask:

  • Has anyone here successfully run Archetype: Gojira, Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+, or other Neural DSP plugins on Linux?

  • If so, what setup did you use (distribution, Wine version, Yabridge configuration, etc.)?

  • Are there any guides or success stories you would recommend?

I also wanted to raise a broader discussion about Linux support.

The Linux desktop user base has been steadily growing in recent years, and there is an increasingly active community of musicians using Linux as their primary platform. For users like me—who mainly rely on a PC, an audio interface, a DAW, and plugins—Linux has become a very viable option. REAPER, for example, works exceptionally well and has native Linux support.

At this point, plugin availability is one of the last major barriers preventing many musicians from making the switch. Because of that, I would love to know whether native Linux versions of Neural DSP plugins have ever been considered or are being evaluated for the future.

I’d be interested in hearing both community experiences and any comments from the Neural DSP team.

Thanks!

Hello!

There are guides to find on YT, I have tried running a plugin on Linux mint dualbooting, which worked BUT there’s was a problem on the GUI side, if I moved a knob it took 2minutes to show it, the sound changed immediatly as intended but the GUI was very very lacky, I could live without the plugins on Linux (because I only have PCOM supported plugins) but not Cortex Control, I use it 99% of the time because my QC is sitting on my desk and it’s way easier to control the unit via the Control app also for local backups which I found a must have for me; I really want to switch to Linux and ditch Windows but Cortex Control is the only thing holding me back (I’m also using Reaper)…

Upvote this one for native Linux support!
