Just bought the QC and am in need of some answers please

I am beyond excited to get the QC in a few days!
I did a ton of research and it came down to FM9 vs QC.

A few of the deciding factors lies with the “cloud cortex” feature and the integrated looper. I have a few questions regarding that if somneone could clarify,

So… in the cortrex cloud you are able to download “presets” and “captures”. It seems easy and I am wondering how that integration actually happens.
For example, I am a big Adam Jones fan from Tool. Awesome tone. He notoriously uses channel 3 on diezel VH4’s. There is a preset called lateralus in the cortex cloud.

1). How easy is it to upload these to the QC and can I tweek the settings once I have them?
2). Can presets include “captures”? Or are captures a starting point ONLY to create your own preset.

I find this to be a big seller as I like to load in a preset that someone has already invested the time to get right. But if I need to start with a capture that is fine too. Curious as to how people are liking the Cortex Cloud.

My other question is regarding the looper. I currrently own an RC-300 with 3 tracks and integrated drum machine for vibing out on the fly. Super easy and fun.

3). How many tracks does the QC have and can i run multiple different instruments into it. Currently I run an acoustic guitar, electric guitar a bass guitar, a synth plus internal drum machine on the RC-300 (through a mixer) to get some pretty fun stuff out. Is the quad cortex capable of doing this (or should I keep my rc-300/mixer setup)?

Thanks to all responses in advance.

1). You download them directly on the QC. It becomes a preset like any other on your machine, and you can tweak/swap out whatever you want.

2). Both. If presets include captures, they will be auto-downloaded when you download a preset. You can also just search for captures and download them individually.

The cloud is a goldmine IMO, but there’s a definite lack of information with most uploads, unfortunately. Often no idea of settings etc. Mic’d captures rely on a strangers mic and cab model, mic positioning etc. Obviously there’s plenty of big names on there who know exactly what they’re doing, and will produce excellent results with a mic, but I’d imagine it might be hit and miss. I stick to D.I. captures as I play through a cab, so can’t comment on that. I absolutely love captures though. I’ve had my QC for over a year, and use captures exclusively in my handful of day-to-day presets.

(I don’t use the looper :sunglasses:)

  1. You can run multiple instruments into the QC and route them to the looper. The looper is intuitive and capable of overdubs. Currently, it is limited to one loop at a time.
