Hi,
It became clear to me (and I tested it) that the NC is not combining the L and R channels when only left output has a cable. So it’s not true mono but just the L-part of the stereo signal. Especially with stereo effect such as delay this is an issue. Now that in the firmware 2.1.0 you can turn on/off IR per output this functionality still makes no sense of only half of the stereo sound is on the outputs. Again: no real mono can be get out of a single output.
As a workaround I was thinking to make separate stereo and mono presets. However, the stereo effects such as ‘analog delay’ has only a stereo version, there is no mono version of analog delay.
Also check this video to backup the stereo/mono issue I described above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5e4r8gjJPs&t=1007s
How do you guys deal with this shortcoming (I really think it is).
Well, if there is summing going on behind the scenes, that could affect output volume, meaning it can be slightly louder unless the sum signal was compensated. I will check and measure for mono signal output since I’m curious myself. However, if it is done right, there should not be any need for separate presets. I myself would not want to bother with extra presets for mono. I’d rather have the unit take care of this automatically like every other amp modeler or processor. Because it is easier.
