I would like to use some of the nice stereo presets direct to FOH. Some venues don’t like stereo inputs and insist on mono. I’ve read/heard all the pros and cons.
Do these with the dual input/output blocks work in mono (L) okay? or should they be modded slightly?
The manual doesn’t go into the stereo/mono details much.
Thanks!
Wondering about this as well… Picking this tread back up. Seems a bit silly that nearly every single preset is in stereo, especially if I’m wanting to record double-tracked guitars into Logic. What are the ramifications of summing a stereo preset with a mono block? If the stereo effects are taken out?
I could be wrong but I believe if you place a mono effect at the end of your signal chain it will collapse the signal to mono. i.e. change a stereo reverb or delay to mono.
I believe that @bluzdog 's post above is correct, but I don’t know for certain. Putting a mono block at the end of the signal chain in other modelers colapses to mono as he said.
I actually have 2 physical adapters, 1 dual XLR to a single XLR, and one the same but with TRS instead of XLR. I normally use the XLR one with my FM9 when feeding a mono FOH live so I don’t have to bother with modifying any presets.
This isn’t the exact one I have but a similar adapter from Amazon:

See this recent thread if you haven’t already. Good information in there.
There are mono versions of several effects including Spring reverb, delay and Chorus.
Thank you for this. You’ve used these adaptors with the QC and had success getting a mono signal from a stereo output?
I have. It does work fine. There can be some issues with combining both sides into one signsl depending on modulation effects or stereo delays but for the most part I haven’t had any issues with it.
The adapter is cheap enough and you don’t necessarily have to modify your presets.
