How Good Are Cortex Cloud Captures

Hey folks, I’ve got a delivery scheduled for my Quad Cortex tomorrow! Been waiting for two months… so excited! :tada:

Tell me, are the captures and presets on Cortex Cloud generally good and well-made? Anyone’s using it for pro-level work? I see there are plenty of vintage pedals available (which is exactly what I need)… :fire:

I highly recommend all captures from amalgamaudio.
He has multiple accounts amalgamaudio1 etc,

all snapshots are exactly that … the equipment used to create it at those settings only.
The results vary hugely as you use them on different equipment in different settings.
Whilst the commercial vendors can be relied on to capture these things optimally … so can anyone with a quad cortex, it’s not hard.
There are thousands and thousands of freely available snapshots on the cloud by now, you just have to keep trying them out until you find ‘the one for now’. … go fishing my son and may you catch your Ray!

They are as good as the amp and the settings that the user set. So, you have to listen to them in order to pick the ones you like. in terms of the capture process, it is so simple that usually they all come out all right. If you go for captures of the preamp action only (no cab), you have more flexibility on adding the IR/cab you want. When you pick captures with the cab, there’s more involved, as the mic model, mic position etc plays a part on the sound.

Thank you, I will gladly try it out

the only downside to the Cloud is that not every user takes the time to describe what they’ve captured, what the settings were, or even whether it’s an amp head, full rig, pedal or whatever. You can figure it out from listening to it, usually, but it’s just another step in the marking, downloading, auditioning, and then saving or deleting process. I like to check out cloud captures pretty often, but there is definitely a lot to sift thru out there.
