(And the rest of this reply I’m only typing because I can’t post anything less than 15 characters!)
Some of the requests should be pretty simple, you’d think; things like introducing user customisable switching options for Mode changes etc.
I’ve now used my QC live three times, having only just started playing live again for the first time in 20 years quite recently. Unfortunately in each of those gigs I’ve fallen foul of the shortcomings of the user interface, with embarrassing consequences (I could provide more detail but I’ve spoken about these other areas on this forum)
So I won’t go into specifics here but to summarise, my point really is that while the QC is a pleasure to listen to, it really isn’t (in my experience anyway) a pleasure to use in a pressure situation, and it is my belief that the usability of modellers these days is as important as the sound. Not many people at the small gig would care that I’m playing a QC vs a Headrush vs a Helix, and they wouldn’t notice a difference of sound between any of those I don’t think. So it will come down to what is the least difficult to use in a live setting, and with the QC at the moment there are so many shortcomings in its user interface it certainly doesn’t lead the field from that point of view.
yeah, unfortunately the midi jumper hack or an external midi controller are pretty much necessary to access what you’d need for a smooth gigging experience.
Maybe some of the coming midi improvements will help with that, but I expect it isn’t going to fix everything
Yes, that’s the conclusion I’ve come to - I have to use an external midi pedal just to change modes without risking changing oreset accidentally during a song.
would you mind elaborating or sending links that explain all the current “hacks” that ensure a smooth gigging experience?
+1 on this. I can’t vote anymore for some reason, but this would be great. Seeing as how this thread is almost 2 years old, I can only assume it’ll never happen, but +1 regardless.
Wooow crazy! Thank you so much for explaining this in such a constructive and detailed way!
+1 for me too! These switches make me crazy !
+1 for the ability to change the direction the arrows scroll.
+1 for me too. No matter how many times when onstage I mess this up, my brain refuses to relearn the logic or lack thereof for the default switch order. Why Neural doesn’t offer a reverse the order option after several years of waiting and hoping?
IMHO the whole implementation of the way the footswitches work for Mode changing and Preset changing needs a rethink
“IMHO the whole implementation of the way the footswitches work for Mode changing and Preset changing needs a rethink”
Littlespaceman, I certainly agree with you. With my experience using the QC live, it is problematic for me. Technically a very good unit but functionally for performing, not intuitive or easy to operate; mode changing and Preset changing certainly could use some improvements. The lack of being able to reverse the footswitchs is a major problem. It would be great if we could get Neural to implement what would appear to be a simple fix to implement. This problem was first identified, I think in 2022. Hopefully, this low lying solutionwill get a fix in 2025.
Best,
Steve
Hi Steve
Sadly I don’t think Neural do anything because we hope they will, and I agree, this is such a low-lying solution relative to all the other ‘quality of life’ things they seem to introduce, which I don’t recall anyone asking for!
The best way to get them to address this sort of thing I guess is to make it a feature request and/or bug complaint and get as many votes as possible.
You can also email them directly, which to be fair they do respond to…
