I’m on the hunt for a list of factory presets, along with some descriptions. I’m not just looking for the names, but some clues about what they do. There’s a list for blocks, but not for factory presets, which is a real bummer for those who can’t figure out what “Captain 50” means. Does anyone have it? Is Quad Cortex able to provide it?
Thanks a bunch,
Amir

Thanks. But those are devices, I am looking for descriptions on the Factory Presets. Amir
I have a pdf that lists the factory presets and their component scenes. The Forum won’t permit its upload here, but I can email you a copy if you like. It’s not as detailed as what you’re asking for, but it does compile all the official info available on each preset (which isn’t a lot)
I have not seen a list that describes the presets. We pretty much have to figure that out on our own. Many, like “Captain Morgue” refer to the amp model used (Morgan). Others refer to the artist or song the tone is built to resemble. Most of the titles seem fairly descriptive, only a few might be cryptic but can usually be deduced by digging into the preset to see what’s happening
For now, best practice is probably just to ask here if the title is unclear, someone has probably figured out the reference/hints
I would love to have the file - email kishon@gmail.com. I am curious why after 4 years we still do not have any proper documentation for the presets and why we need to guess things. NeuralDSP support/product should look into that. This definitely slows their appeal to people that don’t want to solve riddles. Amir
I’ll send it to you shortly.
We’ve been begging for detailed info since the QC was released; settings for the factory captures, explanations/descriptions of certain fx parameters, etc. I don’t think we’ll ever get in-depth info, that just doesn’t seem to be their specialty
This was something that bothered me too at first. Like take my ampero or my pearl mimic pro for my drums. Those preset names are so blatantly obvious that its impossible not to know what tone they are trying to emulate.
But then when selecting those presets. They didnt sound anything like what they claimed to be. On the quad its definitely less apparent what they are talking about as far as the titles of the presets. And since i use my quad with a PA speaker that has FRFR modes specifically designed for the use with processors it reminded me that presets ability to replicate a certain tone as I recognize it really depends on if you are using an instrument with the same tonal qualities as the artist the preset is trying to emulate as well as your output source.
Some use the quad in a studio only and hear the signal through headphones or studio monitors. So I take a different approach. I dont give a shit what the preset name is. I just go through every preset and play it until I get something that is close to sound im trying to achieve and edit that preset to fit the instrument im using and the output source that I will be hearing it from.
I think my issue is that I dont really like having to set the input sensitivity level myself. In most of my processors they dont have you setting up the input to match the output of your most highest output pickups. It makes it extremely diffiucult to use something like fishman modern fluence and then switch a lower output guitar and not have it choke out.
To be honest with you Im suprised it doesnt have auto leveling. My other processors just wanted to know that I was plugging in a guitar, line level device or microphone and it did the rest.
Luckily i ditched fishmans. Ive just discovered passives for me are the way to go because I can use the onboard effects to get the sound I want. But man, especially on some of the plugins like fortin nameless? In the quad its almost unusable with the amount of background noise underneath. There should really be a post signal chain noise filter that eliminates the hiss and hum of using the modeled effects and amps. Cause ive messed with all sorts of gates in different positions to try to tame the noise and its either significant noise or a choked off cant let a chord or single note ring out without sounding like its also trying to contact intelligent with white noise.
