Expression pedal volume control after amp and before post-amp effects

New Nano user here. I need to set the expression pedal volume control AFTER amp and BEFORE post-amp effects in order to do volume swells. Can’t this be done? What am I missing?

Hi, I’m a QC user, not a Nano user. Nano Cortex’s pre-effect and post-effect slots are fixed. There is a volume block available in the Nano, but it is pre-effect only.

You might be able to assign an expression pedal to an output gain parameter inside the capture block. Otherwise, it might be a no-go, unless another Nano user knows better than I.

For the record, I am staunchly against this workflow of fixed slots in the Nano. The signal path should be completely free so that anyone can put any block they want, anywhere.

OK thanks for this! This is really horrible news though. I will probably go back to my Kemper Player just for this reason. Appreciate the information though.

Before you do that–try assigning the output of the capture block to your expression pedal.

Can any other Nano users confirm whether this is possible, or if there is any other effective workaround?

Thanks, I’ll that trick a try tomorrow. I honestly can’t believe that we have to use a block for simple volume. Also if I do place it somewhere in the chain, will the expression pedal volume “capture” between presets on a global level? I sure hope so.

I agree. It’s not good if you want to have the same sound at different volumes. On the QC I set the volume after the amp so the sound is consistent, and then use the guitar volume if I want to clean up/dirty up the sound.

I tried setting the expression pedal on the nano to the capture volume, but it still changes the character of the amp (and volume) and for most of my nano presets I prefer having the capture volume set per amp capture. With the expression pedal set to the capture volume you have to watch the overall volume too much (for me).

My understanding was that the fixed slots signal change allowed gapless preset switching, which it did on earlier OS versions. But some later changes have introduced a slight gap when switching. Live it’s not a huge issues, but listening to live recordings I definitely hear the gap when switching presets.
