Expression Pedal for QC

Which model have you found that works the best with the QC? The Mission Engineering SP1 seems very pricey, is there an equivalent that works as well?

I’ve been using the less expensive Hotone Ampero Press II lately, it replaces the Mission nicely for me

The moog ep-3 works great too. They’re super inexpensive but surprisingly great. Can get two of them ( one for each expression jack) for about 100 bucks.

BOSS EV30. Built like a tank.

I am also using the Hotone Ampero II Press. It works great with QC, has a toe switch, has an aluminum (not plastic) housing, and is the right size for me (not too big, not too small).

There are lots of options, and most can be calibrated to work with the QC, so it is a matter of personal preference. I am glad that I went with the toe switch since it gives me more flexibility in setting up my scenes. Note that the toe switch (if you choose to use it) will need its own TRS cable going into EXP2 on the back of the QC.

I‘m using the Fulclurum pedal (expression, NOT the MIDI) by [https://901sound.de/](https://901 Sound)

Previously I used two Dunlop DVP5 Volume (X) 8 pedals.

+1
And it comes with a TRS cable

Which one comes with the cable?

Not sure which one the mod meant, but my EV30 came with a trs cable. Ideally you would get a better cable than what these pedals come with. They’re usually kinda cheap

Sorry, the Moog EP3

I use a Fractal EV2. Works great and very mechanically well designed.

I use a Lehle Dual Expression pedal since I got the QC in 2021. Super precise, reliable and matches the QC size perfectly.

I’d like to hear from Dual XP users how you’re using the ‘dual’ feature?
I have one, but never found a use for having 2 XP lines feeding off 1 pedal.
How are you using yours differently than a single XP?

I have my dual expression routed to my looped (has expression control for the volume) and also to the QC controlling a volume block for a looper pedal that has pre loaded drones, etc in it. That second pedal has its own lane that is routed to FOH. The two pedals are in different parts of the setup and the one with pre loaded stuff doesn’t route to my amp at all, but the normal looper does for more improvised layers live.

Generally I need both of those things to change in volume at the same time, so the dual expression pedal is perfect.

I noticed Plini’s compact board one day. He uses a Dunlop DVP5 x8 volume exp pedal. I bought one too. Small footprint with multi- use features. $139.I had the Mission Neural person, built like a tank and full featured. Too big for my smaller set up though.

I ended up ordering the Boss EV-30

I have an EV-30 and two FV-500L expression pedals. They all have a dead zone at the heel end equating to 25-30% of the pedal travel. I have seen other people report the same problem with Boss expression pedals. Users often don’t notice straight away because they just rock the pedal back and forth rapidly, and see the calibration go from 0-100. They fail to see that the calibration doesn’t move from 0 until they are well into the pedal travel. Check carefully and slowly that it actually does something to both ends of the pedal range. If not, send it back immediately.
There are 2 other threads on here with contributors reporting the same problems with Boss expression pedals.

25-30% feels like an over estimation. There is a dead zone for a little with the Boss, but certainly not that much. It’s more like 10-15% tops I feel. It isn’t perfect, but 1/4-1/3 of the pedals movement isn’t a dead zone.

I’ll take the slight dead zone over a lot of normal volume pedals still allowing some signal through at the lowest point. Especially noticeable with distortion.

It is not an estimation. I have 3 Boss pedals, and I have accurately measured them. The FV-500L pedals have a dead zone of 25% and the EV-30 is 30%. I am not saying that all Boss pedals are that bad, but similar reports from others do indicate that it is a common problem.
I now use Fractal EV1s, and they operate perfectly over the full range of travel.

How could an issue like this not be corrected by Boss?
