Control the input volume from the lane via input or specific block

I’d love to see the ability to control the global input volume for specific inputs (like Input 1, Input 2) directly from the lane itself on the Quad Cortex. Here’s my vision: using the existing input icon where we can add a noise gate or specific blocks, we could add a control that links directly to the global input volume. This way, we’d have the flexibility to adjust the input level right from a preset without needing to dive back into the global settings.

This could help solve the input levelling/gain staging issue, especially for those of us who tweak input levels based on our pickups (boosting or cutting, depending on what we’re using). It’d be a huge step forward in dialling in the sound without the hassle. Having an input level option in the lane would make life way easier for anyone who likes fine-tuning on the fly.

The idea is this would just be a link to the global setting. If you load a preset with it specified, it would just set the value on load and change it. It’s effectively duplicating what we currently have in I/O settings.

Nice on input section.

As specific block you can do this, with gain block, on negative values too.

Also, if in input1 or 2 tag as you said, we could actually save a block

Maybe someone from NDSP can confirm, but my understanding is that gain blocks adjust the digital sound after A/D conversion. This means if your analogue signal is clipping, lowering it with a gain block won’t fix it, as the clipping occurs before conversion.

aaah ok
You are speaking of “trim” function (as analogue mixer, or global input LEVEL function as said, but dedicated in the single preset).
