Hi, I recently bought a QC and connected my Strymon Cloudburst via fx loop (CB input to send QC and CB output to return QC). When my CB is connected straight to my Headrush FRFR I get very clear and rich ensemble from the CB, however when it’s connected to my QC, the ensemble sounds muddy, lifeless and lacking in character. Do you have any tips to make it sound great? Thank you.
I would try putting the fx loop block after your amp and cab simulation. Especially if you’re using a dirty amp. If you want the amp/cab at the end of chain then I would set up the amp block pristinely clean.
Also good to use this guidance that has circulated here before for setting up the effects loop levels which are a little quirky.
I’ve saved this screenshot for easy reference.
Hi thanks for your reply, I had a look at my setup and I had the send level at 0dB and the return level at +3dB, so this messed up the sound quality. I have changed them return level to 0dB, which made a huge improvement but still not similar to when the CB is directly connected to the FRFR Speaker. I placed an EQ block and Eq’d it to match the original sound and it’s now sounding very well. Thanks for the help!
Set your send level to -4.5db and your return level to -0.1db (or leave it 0) and try again like suggested
I am so glad you posted this question. I have done the same thing with the cloudburst to the same resulting disappointment.
Have you tried the suggestion above -4.5db send and -1.5db return?
I find the biggest improvement is when I have added an eq block and eq’d as close as the pedal alone.
If you have any tips, please do share. Thanks
