Cleaning foot switches on the QC?

Got some pops and scratches coming through when turning the footswitches. Cleaned many a regular pedal footswitches no problem with some deoxit.

Kind of weary of attemtping it on the quad.

Has anyone tried with any success?

If you have pops and scratches, I doubt that it’s coming from the footswitches as the signal does not pass through them. They are a combination of a switch and a rotary encoder which control the software. That said, you may hear some zippering when adjusting certain parameters while playing. If you have unusual noises, I’d look elsewhere. Attempting to modify or disassemble these devices could spell disaster!

Ah, good point. Thanks for the response. If it gets worse ill just contact neural. Im going to try different power tomorrow and see if that helps.

Do you only hear the noise when moving one of the footswitch/knobs? Pops could be static being discharged when you touch your QC. Stay off that nylon carpet. Could also be your electrifying personality, too! Whatever the source, I hope you find it…it sounds irritating.

A touch of Deoxit on the switches wouldn’t hurt.

Oh thats interesting. It does live on one of those office chair floor protector pads. Not sure the material but its some kind of plastic. That could be a source of static!

Most of those mats are acrylic, not prone to creating static in a sheet like that but who knows. If you live in a dry climate, like Arizona, static can be a real problem, from what I’ve heard. If any of your encoders are acting up, parameter values can jump around while adjusting, sometimes while sitting. I agree with D.C. that DeOxit would be fine for the switch but I’m not sure about the encoder part. You may want to consult with NDSP first.
