Capture via Line Out on a tube amp?

Hi everyone.

New to capturing and I’d like to capture my Laney Supercub 12. I don’t have a mic or a Load Box, however the amp has an FX loop, and the FX Send is also marked ‘Line Out’.

My question is, can I use the Line Out jack (NB, it’s not the Speaker Out, its very clearly marked ‘Line Out’) as the DI Out to plug in to the QC to make a capture?

From a look at the Laney manual, I think you should be okay.

On most tube amps, though, you MUST keep a cab (or loadbox) connected to provide load even when using the DI out, otherwise Very Bad Things can happen to your amp. I think the Supercub 12 is a combo so you should be fine (the internal cab is always connected), but if you have a head-only amp this is really important.

Yes you can. However you will only capture the preamp section of your combo, as it is the send output.
