I agree and use the same approach. Tested with a loop switcher, and leaving the QC at 0 for the input level in an empty patch gives unity gain for the whole unit compared to bypass so I dont dabble with it.
What do you mean by turning on a medium amount of gain? Before the amp? Using the amp’s gain knob? Which a amp?
